My daughter took her car to this * mechanic * last year because it was shaking, losing power, had trouble getting into gear and was making noises. We went locally because we thought we would get better service. How not true this was. The sign outside advertised * free diagnostic and testing*. Need to read all the fine print on this contract. Free means we take it into the shop for FREE but then your screwed. Once the take the car apart for their free diagnosis, of you decide not to do the work you still owe 1500.00 for the free diagnosis. They determined she needed a rebuilt transmission for a cost of $4000.00. Once this was done she took the car home and guess what? It still shook, lost power, made noise and had trouble getting into gear. She went back 3 different times and each time was told it was fine. It never was but since the issue only happened occasionally she decided it wasn't worth the aggravation of going back until last week. The car had gotten so bad you couldn't trust it. We took it to a local shop as well as Honda and each said it was the transmission ONE YEAR LATER. Honda indicated if the transmission was really replaced even with a rebuilt one the average of 4 years should be what you can expect.
Reluctantly we took it back to A1 to check the work and see what they would do about it. The past owner had died and I'm sure he has a nice seat in hell, and his crooked nephew took the reigns. I told my daughter not to sign anything or agree to anything and she didn't. He agreed to drive the car for the day and test drive it. He found all kinds of new issues with the car, that the other 2 mechanics of coarse didn't but none of it was transmission related. Since we had such a bad experience the first time I asked to have the car returned and we would go to Honda but guess what??? Now he claims to have put the car on a machine and it would be $180.00 to get back OR he could do work and the cost of the diagnosis would go into the repair. WE were never told there was a cost for checking it out and never signed anything. More lies. So I finally authorized then to replace the left wheel bearing which he said made the tci light come on and when my daughter went to get the car they charged her for the repair as well as the 180.00 testing.
Bottom line the car still shakes, loses power, drops into 3rd gear, makes noise and runs just as it did a year ago!!! My suggestion if your need any work DON'T GO HERE. If your car beaks down in front of this shop PUSH IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.
