Suntrup Nissan offers to provide "$5000 over KBB value" for all trade-ins if you're purchasing a new vehicle. Unfortunately, it is only with a lot of research that you are able to determine how incredibly misleading this offer truly is.
First, the company offers the $5000 on top of KBB's "fair" value, regardless of the condition of your vehicle. Secondly, the company requires that you purchase a new vehicle at MSRP, without advantage of any manufacturers discounts or the ability to negotiate a fair price.
In my case the biggest issue was that the offer is limited to one vehicle per sale. I have two vehicles that I wished to trade for a new vehicle. I provided my vehicle information to the salesperson and received a quote for my vehicle's value. I was very upfront to this point about what I was trying to do. After I received the value for both vehicles I mentioned that the prices looked good and requested the "best price" for the vehicle I was interested in. At this point the internet salesperson mentioned he was tired of emailing about the potential deal and requested I call.
I did as asked and after speaking with the internet salesperson for a few minutes I learned that I would have to purchase the vehicle at MSRP to qualify for the promotion and that I could not get the offer on both of my vehicles. Nowhere on the website does it mention that the offer is limited to one vehicle or that I would be required to purchase at MSRP.
In my opinion this offer is highly misleading at best. If this is the way that business is done at Suntrup Nissan than I will most definitely not be doing business with them in the future.
