What is the purpose of a 100.000 mile warranty if it doesnt cover engine issues

A few years ago I made my first new car purchase. I only had limited funds to work with as you could imagine a single eighteen year old mother would. I needed a dependable car. I based my decision on reliability, style, and of course speed. I decided after many months of planning I wanted a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer. I purchased a fully loaded lancer with touch start, navigation, sunroof, Bluetooth, etc, etc. The moment I drove the car off the lot was probably one of the happiest moments of my life. A couple months later I was on my way from my first job to my second. I got in the car started it and the engine did not want to turn over. I got a phone call right at that moment from my then boyfriend who is now my husband. I explained the situation he said he would be there to give me a jump.By the time he arrived the engine turned over finally. I was kind of disturbed by this, however I was already running late to my second job. I never found time to actually take the car in to the place of purchase for them to follow up with the issue. Although I did make my sales person aware of the situation by calling his cell phone. He did want me to take the car in however the dealership I purchased from is located in San Antonio and I live in Converse. As you could imagine trying to find time to be with my son and working two jobs I never found the time. The issue would happen every now and again. I noticed if I wouldn’t run the car consistently when I’d go to start the car it wouldn’t turn over or it would hesitate. I learned to live with the issue due to everything else about the car being so wonderful. Recently the issue has became terrible. I thought it was a battery issue due to the one in my car never being changed. I purchased a new battery this past September. Two days later I went out to the car after being off for two days in a row. The car didn’t start. My first thought was the battery is bad. I took it back to walmart. The gentleman ran a check and confirmed there was a issue with the car. He stated something was draining the battery. He said whatever it is it is like leaving your headlights on and a door open. He said the recharging system is wonderful however there is a electrical short. Ever since then I have been disconnecting the battery every night and connecting it in the morning. As if that is not too much to deal with after making a new car purchase about a year after I made this purchase while going out of town I encountered another problem. If I would exceed eighty miles per hour for a set period of time the car would display slow down on the display screen. A few moments later the car would began decreasing speed on its own. Only a matter of time after this I was on the side of the road and the car wouldn’t go at all. After about fifteen minutes later the car would go back to as is. This would only happen every once in a while when traveling between Houston and San Antonio. I really didn’t press the issue with this either due to this being my first car purchase. I didn’t know if this was notmal after a year. Honestly my parents had never purchased a brand new car throughout my whole child hood. I didn’t want to express my concerns to my family due to the embarrassment I feared. I couldn’t believe I was experiencing all of the issues I was from my dream car. The issue with the car slowing down on its own has became terrible. Just last week I took the car into Gillman Mitsubishi. I paid a $90 inspection fee for them to confirm the car has a electrical short and needed reprogramming to stop the car from slowing down. The manager stated hopefully this is the issue. If it is not we will have to run tests on the car which will cost $500. Not including the cost for the issue they find. The manager also stated although I am within my 100.000 warranty the electrical and the engine failure is not covered. I didn’t think the electrical or the engine. I left hoping and praying the engine failure would stop due to the gentleman from Mitsubishi reprogramming the car. About two hours later we left Converse to Austin Texas and half way there I found myself pulled over at a weight station with my four year old hot and thirsty. I couldn’t go any place. I had to call a cab to the nearest gas stating in order to get my baby something to drink. That was the last straw. I have become so frustrated with this car. At this point I am ready to write about my experience on any web site and tell anyone who will listen. I did make the dealer aware a number of times however due to the dealer not providing a loaner car while servicing the car I wasn’t able to waste a whole day waiting on them to assist the issue. However I now wish I had. This car is seriously a piece of over priced decoration for the front of our house. I pay $500 a month for a unreliable, fast looking car. My father hires a private mechanic in order to ensure our vehicles are properly maintained. Due to me not paying Mitsubishi every 3,000 miles for my oil changes and regular car maintenance they do not want to resolve this issue without my having to spend thousands of dollars. My first thought was to trade in the vehicle however my parents initially financed my vehicle for me. They recently encountered financial difficulties and filled a chapter thirteen bankruptcy which will not allow me to trade in the vehicle. At this point I am completely screwed. Needless to say I am very disappointed however next time I know. All I want is for Mitsubishi to take care of this issue. I know there must have been issues with the model I purchased. Mitsubishi is no longer making this car. I purchased the Lancer GTS 6 cylinder. The sales person did confirm only a number were made and distributed throughout the country and now I can clearly see why. I don’t know if this issue just happened to this one car Mitsubishi manufactured however I do intend on finding out. Please contact me if you are able to help the issues I have experienced. I would just like to ensure someone who is somebody at Mitsubishi will see the terribly horrific experience I have encountered and somehow find resolution.
