Complaint / Review
Goldstar Van Lines
Goldstar Van Lines, Inc

June 16. Goldstar Van Lines arrived to move our household goods (HHG) from the State of Washington to the State of New Mexico. The same day, we telephoned and emailed Goldstar Van Lines to report ongoing problems. As well, the same day, we filed an online complaint with the National Consumer Complaint Database, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Complaint ID: 100028334. Received an undated reply from Melissa Mazzella DeLaney, Director, Office of Communications, U.S. Department of Transportation, FMCSA (August timeframe).

July 7-18. HHG delivered (07/07). Several notations of damage were indicated on the Interstate Household Goods Bill of Lading. Emailed [email protected] to request name of claims company to send our claim (07/16). Received reply from [email protected] with the phone number of claims department, 623-551-0116 (07/18).

March 9 - April 10. Mailed (with Confirmation Delivery) our claim to Anthem Claim Management (03/09). No acknowledgement received. Contacted via telephone Anthem Claim Management for update to claim (04/02). Was told Anthem Claim Management no longer serviced Goldstar Van Lines; our claim in its entirety was forwarded to Goldstar Van Lines. Same day, called Goldstar Van Lines via telephone for name and number of current claims company. Same day, contacted Compass Management Corporation. Faxed entire claim package to Company Management Corporation (4/10).

April 30 - August 18. Received email from [email protected] to provide additional information (04/30). Received updated emails from Compass Management Corporation (05/21 and 06/18). Last email communication received from Compass Management Corporation (08/18). Called and left voice message on Compass Management Corporation's business phone (866-755-0558) (08/18). September 3 - October 6. Called and left voice messages on Compass Management Corporation's business phone (09/03 and 09/09). No response received. Emailed [email protected] for update to claim (09/16 and 10/06). No response received. Called the FMCSA (888-368-7238) for guidance (10/06). Was provided the name of the Process Agent for Goldstar Van Lines in the State of New Mexico. Emailed American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA), [email protected] to inform AMSA of Goldstar Van Lines website's indication it is a member (10/06). AMSA's website does not list Goldstar Van Lines as a member.

October 9. Reviewed Goldstar Van Lines website, www.goldstarvanlines.com. It still showed active, showed it was fully insured and bonded, showed it was an AMSA member. The same day, reviewed the FMCSA website. FMCSA issued Out of Service Orders (OOS) to Goldstar Van Line (DBS Moving Services Inc) on August 17. OOS was not rescinded. FMCSA's website also provided insurance coverage history for Goldstar Van Lines. No insurance coverage is provided; insurers revoked, cancelled or rescinded coverage to Goldstar Van Lines during the past three years. Goldstar Van Lines remains UNINSURED.

November 6. As of the date of submission of this complaint to ComplaintNow, the OOS is still warranted with no rescinded date. Goldstar Van Lines' website is still showing active. Goldstar Van Lines' telephone number is still active, via a recorded message that states it is fully bonded and insured.
