Balise Motor Sales Company Unsavory and unethical business practices

I am so tired, angry and fed up with Balise Motor Sales Company, in specific, their Ready Credit branch on East Columbus Ave.in Springfield, MA.

Last week, after DAYS of sitting around and waiting in their dealership (which is an hour away from where we live) for them to get their acts together, we finally bought a used 2003 Chevy Blazer.

One week later, the problems arise. Prior to purchasing the car, we did of course take it for a test drive. It seemed to run well and we were pleased. We really need a four wheel drive vehicle as we live in a rural area, and were willing to spend the extra money to get one instead of a more affordable sedan.

Later that day after returning home with the car, I tried to take my son to the library. Guess what? The rear passenger seat belt didn't work and the driver's seat recline was snapped off (before we got it) and the mechanical mirror adjustment doesn't work. These mirrors do not adjust manually in a way that actually allows you to see clearly what you need to see while driving.

Day two: The right front passenger door leaks when it rains.

Day three: Four wheel drive gets stuck and won't disengage. Can't drive car on regular road with four wheel drive engaged as the car stutters and grabs the ground and is generally very bad for the car.

Day Four: Husband gets stranded because car won't start... The starter isn't working.

Day Six: Take car to Balise for servicing. Still there today even though they assured us it would be completed by now. Husband misses day of work. Sales Manager refuses to authorize repair of mirrors, door, seat recline lever and FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. Yes, the same sales manager who claimed to "go out of her way" to find us a four wheel drive vehicle. The same four wheel drive feature that is the very REASON we decided to purchase the car.

Calls put in to rectify the situation are either not returned for hours or just reiterate what the Sales Manager stated — they won't authorize it.

According to the Massachusetts Used Vehicle Warranty Law: The dealer is responsible for the full cost for parts and labor (minus a $100 deductible) for any defects that IMPAIR THE USE OR SAFETY of the car. I can live with the leaky door... It'll ruin the interior and probably kill the wiring in the door, but whatever. The rest of it MUST be fixed, in my opinion.

They sold us a car with most of the features that make driving it possible and then refuse to take any responsibility because it will cost them money, even though they get the money for the car plus a portion of the financing amount. They have the opportunity to actually do the right thing but refuse to do so. I'm stuck with a lemon and now feel like I need to consult with an attorney to ensure that we don't get stuck with a car that doesn't function as it should while saddled with a loan for a car that SHOULD function. We're paying way too much for this thing not to work.

We're still trying to contact some higher echelon employees at Balise, but they make it very difficult to find that information. I'm not surprised. Do yourselves a favor and choose another dealership if you're looking for quality customer service and any resolution of problems. You'll certainly not find it at Balise.
