My husband has always wanted a Harley Davidson softail. So when Harley came out with the anniversary bike, we made plans to get one.
We went to the locally owned Harley dealer here in Fairbanks Alaska and started the ball rolling. We gave the credit app. And we put down 2200.00 dollars.
We didn't sign any paperwork, as the bike wasn't even here in Alaska yet.
We came down on orders to leave Alaska (military) so we immeditatley informed Northern Outpost (Fairbanks Harley Davidson) that we were on orders to leave Alaska and go to Florida.
We were told that our bike we be delivered up here in time and not to worry.
So, we made plans to tow it in a trailer, (rented Uhaul) purchased a new truck and paid for a trailer hitch to be installed.
Then I called to check on the status of the order and I am told that our bike wouldn't be here in time for our move.
Northern Outpost (Fairbanks Harley Dealer) tells us to find a place to drop ship the bike, and we did. But, two days later they called us and told us the Harely couldn't drop ship the bike and that it was going to be delivered to Fairbanks.
We were going to have to pay another $890.00 to have it shipped to us, and it would take up to another 3 weeks before we would receive it.
We had already spent more than what we originally wanted to and now were being told we would have to spend more!
We decided to go and get our down payment back and cancel the order.
We were told we would get it back only if John (the owner) could find a buyer for it. And it would be $500.00 less. Now! The bike hasn't even arrived here yet and we are due to leave Alaska in just days.
John (the owner) kept putting us off, and putting us off about our money back. Finally after two weeks, we got tired of John (the owner) putting us off.
We went in and requested to see him he came to see us and we we told him that we were there to get our 2200.00 dollars back, and that he had no legal right to keep it, according to Harley Davidson customer service and JAG (Army legal services).
John (the owner) blew up at us in front of everyone in the store and told us "That's not what was agreed upon and that it was only if he could sell it, we again stated that he had no legal right to keep our down payment.
John (the owner) blew up at us yelling at us saying that he wouldn't give us our money back because we had signed a contract.
We hadn't signed anything, then John (the owner) got even more angry and said he wasn't going to allow us to come in there and tell him how to run his buisness and blew us off and turn and walked aways from us.
My husband was so angry, he had to leave the store.
I stayed and waited to talk to him again, when I tried he pushed past me and told me to leave his store. I reminded him that he promised to treat us fairly and that this wasn't treating us fair.
John (the owner) had me so upset that I couldn't stop crying and shaking because he was ripping us off for 2200.00 dollars.
He saw me and heard me crying speaking to his finance manager and she was trying to calm me down.
He told me get out of his store that he wouldn't deal with me.
Finally he yelled at me come back tomorrow and I will refunded your damn 2200.00 BUT he said he wasn't going to deal with it today.
As of this report we haven't recieved any of the 2200.00 dollar down payment.
BUYER BEWARE!!! John (the owner) of Harley Davidson Fairbanks, Northern Outpost, is a swindler and a con artist. He will not tell you up front about the little matter of getting your money refunded if you cancel the sale!!!
Do not sign anything until you have taken possesion of the item! Read all small print, ask about cancellation fees!!!
