We have used NJ Cure for several years: we are in our 50's, have zero claims, zero tickets, perfect records. NJ Cure's rate for minimal insurance for 2 cars was $2600/year. Stupidly, we believed NJ Cure's advertisements and assumed this was the best rate, since Cure is supposed to be a "Citizen's United" company. We finally got competitive bids: turns out Cure's rate was TWICE the HIGHEST rate of any of their competitors. I phoned Cure to ask why this is, and got an absolute stonewall; my recollection of the conversation was as follows.
Them: 'This is the best available rate.'
Me: Why aren't you taking into account how long we have been with Cure? Our good records?
Them: 'This is your rate.'
Me: I'd like to talk with someone who can explain why the rate is so high and why we aren't getting a discount for being with Cure for so long.
Them: 'There is no one at Cure who can discuss why the rate is what it is or why you are getting no long-term customer discount, etc.'
Me: But I want to talk with someone responsible who can work with me.
Them: 'There is no one you can talk with: this is your rate.'
Me: But I've been a customer for umpteen years: why is there no discount?
Them: 'This is your rate.'
Me: But someone has to set the rate: I'd like to talk with them.
Them: 'There is no one who you can talk to.'
Me: Well then, you tell me why we have no discount.
Them: 'This is your rate.'
Me: 'So how is it calculated.'
Them: 'We have formulas'
Me: I'd like to speak with whoever it is who sets these formulas.
Them: 'There is no one you can speak with.'
Me: SOMEone sets the formulas: who is that?
Them: 'There is no one you can speak with.'
Me: Then I'd like to speak with your supervisor.
Them: 'There is no one here who can help you.'
They got that last statement right.
