2001 accord trans. Started acting up. Pulled the code it stated a 1705. A 1705 states a trans. Failure. Not like you can replace a part, FAILURE! Took to superstition springs, gave the vin # to the service advisor, and was told I was covered under the extended warranty, PERFECT! Took the car in two days later, and again gave my vin# (same advisor) and ask again, if I was covered, YES was the answer! Asked how much I would be responsible in paying for the repair (deductable, shop supplies) NOTHING was the answer! Spoke to him about the broken motor mount that is caused from the trans. LOCK UP, he said he never heard of that, so if I would like that fixed, thats all I would have to pay for, PERFECT!
Then It came, the phone call we all get, in stead of telling me my car is done, he had some bad news, WHAT, you told me twice I was covered 100%!
We are sorry to tell you that you are out of warranty, the warranty period was extended to 109,000 miles, or, 7 yrs 9 mo, whichever first, BUT WE HAVE A DEAL JUST FOR YOU! Honda is aware of the trans. Problem and we will rebuild yours for $3800.00, but because we know about it we are willing to drop the price you pay to just over $2000.00. YOU KNEW, and I am paying for this, YES, there has been a class action law suit against honda for this very problem! We are stepping up to the plate for you, he said, and only charging you a portion of the cost! Now we come from a long line of honda/acura owners, to be honest I was blindsided by this because of the lack of problems we have had. So then it starts, calls to honda of north amer. Heres a case #, then Morris calls, Honda is doing so much etc, etc. We will "good will" you just pay for the labor, How much, $800.00 dollars. But, the offer is only good for 2 days!!! They lied to get me in there (advisor knew, theres a law suit for god sake) then they hold your car hostage, and now I have to pay for labor for the trans. Which honda has been having problems with, as far back as 1995 models, after doing some research on the problem. Paying for labor, for a decade and a half old problem, should not be my issue!!!
I know things break, im a lic. Aircraft mech., and I could do the work myself, but a 14 yr. Old problem with the same component is just bad for business. Making us pay for a 14 yr. Mistake is the end of doing business!!!
