Oxmoor Toyota
Ripoff, greedy, liars the business that doesnt give a dam

On Friday 5-23 I went in to shop for a preowned Corolla. I talked to a guy named Steve Whittaker. We found a white 2003 that would work just fine.

I already had my financing ready to go from my bank, all I needed was a purchase order. I was approved for so much in the first place. Steve came back and gave me a number that was $831 higher than the ammount I was approved for. I told him that my credit union wouldn't do that but I would see what I could do.

Unfortunately they forced me to do what they call a backup contract because it would be 5-27 before I would know anything. According to them the backup contract isn't real and it just shows the bank that they need to get their check to them as soon as possible.

I was told that they wouldn't have to pull my credit and that the credit app was just for their records. They wouldn't do anything unless I did one (I know I shouldn't have) Unfortunately my wife wasn't with me that night (she hates car dealers and gets sick when she goes to one with me) and so I was told that I would have to bring her back the next day to sign all of the paperwork because they were treating this like it was a done deal.

I told the guy to make sure that they have the paperwork ready to go when they opened because my wife had to be at work by 10:30 and they opened at 9. Unfortunately when we got there I was told that my salesman was running late and he didn't get a chance to get all of the paperwork ready to go so we didn't get to sign anything until 9:30, out by 9:45, speeding to have to get my wife to work on time. That made me mad.

Unfortunately the sales guy they did have us sign paperwork, Matt Storm, made up every excuse as to why it wasn't ready. On 5-27 I talked with my bank again and they got me to withen $330 of what the dealership was asking. I called the dealership and according to Matt Stone, they wouldn't budge because they would lose money on the deal and if they discounted the car for me they would have to for the other people they sell cars to. Also, on their purchase order they have what's called a "Special Benefits Package" that costs $398.

According to Matt Stone, that is another term for dealer fees and he wouldn't deduct that from the purchase order either. He then tried to tell me that I should be able to put the extra $330 down and that if that's a lot of money to me that's a lot of money to them. He then tried to tell me that he already had me contracted to the car with their "backup contract" (the one that I was told didn't have real numbers on it that it was just to light a fire under the bank to give them their check) of which the interest rate was 15.5%.

My bank got me at 5.99%. I tried to tell him that I wanted my trade back because I was lied to and deceived. He tried to tell me that they didn't lie to me. Fortunately I was able to get the bank to go up to the purchase order total. Unfortunately my payment went up 8 dollars because of it. Before my payment would have been cheaper by a dollar if they had done what the bank agreed to. I would never ever recommend Oxmoor Toyota for anything. Their salesmen and finance (lienance) guys lie just to hook you. If you want a Toyota I would recommend going to the two other dealerships in town.
