I bought a 2007 GMC 5500 4x4 from Randy Watt in Billings, MT that had a conversion kit put in by Regency Conversions. I took delivery of this truck in May of that was suppose to be ready in March.
Since I took delivery the truck has been in the shop aproximately 1 year, on and off. One time for 6 weeks at Good Pasture motors in Bristol, VA.
On another occassion it stranded my wife and I in Miami for a week. Here it is June 23, and the tow truck is coming after my truck again today. On 2 occassions, I had my entire family, mother, wife, and 2 grandkids in the truck on the interstate in fairly heavy traffic, and didn't think i would get it off the road. On another occassion it broke down right in front of the State Police Headquarters in Wytheville, VA. This time its in my driveway
The truck will shut completely down, doesn't matter if you are on the highway in traffic or not. GM (Peter Ricardo) is telling me that it is the EGR valve that Regency put in on the air conditioning upfit. This is the 2nd incident that the air conditioner wasn't even ON.
Yesterday when I spoke to Peter Ricardo of GM, he stated that if this is a Regency issue, GM would not waaranty the problem because Regency has went out of business. Come to find out they are not, GM just doesn't do business with them anymore on the Medium duty trucks, which are no longer being manufactured by GM come July 1.
On top of all this, I have, Supposedly, stainless steel screws that have mysteriously rusted on the truck that has been installed by Regency. The paint on the hauler bed by Regency has several spider cracks in it and after talking to Mark owens of Regency, who is no longer there, this is normal. I have never heard of this, and everytime you call, its someone new. The turn over rate there is fenominal. My back up camera has come loose for some reason and No one seems to know how this could happen. It's plain to me that poor craftsmanship leads to POOR Quality.
In closing, GM or Regency want to stand behind these issues. GM has lost my business forever, inwhich I have been a GM person for 40 years, and you could NOT pay me to even consider another product or service from Regency. I have kept maticoulous records on this truck and this seems to be a battle long fought that isn't over yet
