Re: Major World Auto. Major Chevrolet in Long Island City
I went there to purchase a Jeep. I was looking to finance, so shortly after I contacted them they told me that I had been approved by a bank and that I could just come and sign the paperwork... They said that I could put down $3000 and continue my payments for 5 years. When I went to sign the paperwork, they told me they had to charge me $2195 for financing fees, which I agreed to pay. Once I got the car and the contract, the $2195 fees weren't listed on it. I got a call later on from the salesman that "if the bank calls you, tell them that you only put down $3000". I immediately worried and as soon as the bank called I told them the truth, and the bank told me that that fee was a SCAM and that they couldn't approve me for the loan because Major World Auto was engaging in illegal transactions, all of this AFTER I had taken the car as a present for my girlfriend. The worst part of it all is that I am not the only one getting scammed by them, as MANY people go there and get scammed for thousands of dollars because of "financing" fees. Even when I told them that the bank said it was illegal, they STILL wanted to make the deal by saying that they could "approve me through other banks". Please investigate this issue, people are being ripped off for thousands of dollars every day... Moreover, the manager, Sergio, in order to check my credit, called my home phone under a different name!
Their website is http://www.majorworld.com
The manager who put the deal together is Sergio Amestegui and the salesman was Frank Prescod... Not suppose to charge financing fees on top of down payment per "bank rules" (drive financial), major auto is suppose to pay those fees, not consumers... THEY TRY TO MAKE MORE MONEY ON INNOCENT PEOPLE WITH POOR CREDIT AND POCKET THOSE 'FEES"
Be carefull, they will put those fees in your payment
