I had a hurth marine transmission that failed and called foley marine and industrial engine. They were rude (my first tip-off) and insisted I send them my unit for inspection and an estimate of repair cost.
They took a long time to do this only to tell me it couldn't be fixed and that it would cost $300 to get my unit back. I asked for more detail than "its unrepairable." That's when they "shorted out" and insisted I pay cash or postal money order to get my hurth marine transmission back.
I drove a long way and picked it up. Jay Foley wouldn't even come to the counter.
Needless to say I contacted ZF Hurth Marine Transmissions who informed me they receive many complaints about Foley and were about to, or had already terminated their distributor privileges. I contacted another ZF Hurth service center in Seattle, Washington who repaired my unit to run like new. Foley said it couldn't be repaired... Yeah right, Foley you crook!
Stay away from Foley Marine and Industrial Engines unless you're a big company with a law firm on retainer.
