Gerald Jones Mazda
The most greedy, uncooperative, and unprofessional repair shop!

My husband and I turned in our Mazda 6 to get the transmission replaced by Gerald Jones Mazda. We have an extended warranty in place and began the claim process. We were continuously told by a particular shop employee that our warranty was still not covering everything and we were having to pay nearly $1000 out of pocket (wrong!). The claims adjuster approved the amount that Mazda said it would cost for the repairs, but then Mazda turns around and says that there are taxes not being covered. So I called my warranty company and got the taxes covered and their approval amount was raised. Next thing they say is that they need to charge us for what one of their transmissions would cost. I was not purchasing one of their transmissions, but getting one from LKQ. The reason they needed to charge more was because Mazda needed a bigger profit mark up and the parts manager actually said that he refused to order the parts without a bigger profit mark up. They already had their profit mark up in the approved amount! It's ridiculous that just because they want more money, and they're not getting it, they won't order the parts that are obviously going to be paid for and covered.

So because it took a week 1/2 to get the taxes included (which was Mazda's fault because they had never sent over the estimate saying how much taxes were), and we've spent nearly 2 weeks going back and forth between the warranty company, Mazda, and myself, the shop manager tells me that they're about to the point where they don't want to do the repair. If they would have just cooperated and sent over the proper paperwork when it was needed, this whole situation could have been done and over with by now.

Basically though, the rip off here is them trying to charge their customers more for parts than what they actually cost. My LKQ transmission costs $750. Mazda wanted to charge us over $1400 just for having to pick up and phone and order a part. Furthermore, if they tell you that your warranty isn't covering certain things, call your warranty company and double check! Because chances are, Mazda just didn't tell the warranty company that extra fees and taxes were involved. They can't approve the entire amount if they don't have the entire estimate!

I've wasted nearly 2 weeks of my time (all of which we were without our car) dealing with the most unprofessional repair facility I've ever come across. Not only did they try and rip us off, but they did it with disrespect and poor attitude. On top of it, they're not BBB accredited!
