Received a random call and was convinced it was legit and gave out my credit card number and the next day they were on the news for FRAUD!

I received a call from "Warranty Services" stating that my 100 mile warranty was up and to reinstate or update to speak to a representative. Well I decided to speak to someone considering it would be a great idea and worth it. I spoke to a gentlemen, very kind and intelligent and as I listened to what they were offering it sounded good to me. Now this is the first time I have bought a warranty other then when I purchased my vehicle at the dealership.

The gentlemen continued to inform me of what the warranty offered and it sounded good, he then jumped right into how I would make my down payment and told me how much. After hearing the price it didn't seem unreasonable but not something I could afford at that moment in time. He immediately put me in touch with his financial supervisor who offered me a "First Time Buyer Program" and dropped the price substantially. I was so surprised and said "Ok" and got out my credit card and signed up.

Now this all sounds great but the very next day at work on my lunch break I was speaking to a friend of mine and she watched the news that morning and heard about a company accused of warranty frauds. I didn't say anything at first and let her tell me about it, by the end of the story I told her about how I had just purchased a new warranty the previous day. The random phone call from the company had fit the story and she felt as though I was a sucker to the frauds and suggested I do something about it.

The following day I looked up the company online and low and behold it brought me here because someone else had filed a report on them too. I had to cancel my card and call the company back and cancel the warranty I purchased.

First person I spoke to about canceling the service hung up on me. So I called back and spoke to someone else and they insisted on knowing why I wished to cancel and of course that is normal but pushed the envelope and became annoyed and passed my call to another representative. She then tried to talk me out of it and wanted to know why but eventually came through and said she canceled it.

I was told I would receive a check in the mail in a month and that the warranty service was canceled. I hope that these people are brought down and that others and myself who unfortunately fell for it and lost their money get their money back. I understand that people should always check twice when dealing with companies but I feel as though the companies should be true and not take advantage of people. But I guess that is the way things are in the corporate world anymore.
