Christian Brothers, Christian Brothers Automotive, CB, Louis Henna location Loosened my battery cable connector side so they could try to sell me a new one at $69

I had an alternator replaced at Christian Brothers (CB) Automotive in Round rock off Louis Henna. After I had that replaced I went and had an A/C problem diagnosed. I was told it was one part that they quoted me at around $320 or so with parts and labor. I got a second opinion from a shop I knew that just opened. They ended up fixing the A/C for $120 with parts and labor and it turns out CB didn't even diagnose it correctly, yet they still wanted $89 for their incorrect diagnosis.

Anyhow, back to alternator several months later it went bad, I took it to the new honest mechanic and they confirmed it was the alternator. I remembered the warranty from getting it replaced at CB so I opted to take it there since it was still under warranty at CB. Little did I know that it was not the only thing I would have done.

I had my car towed on Monday the 13th of April and was told they (CB) needed to diagnose it to make sure it was a the alternator (this took all day Monday for them to do). Sure enough it was, so they proceeded to order a part. Keith informed me that the part wasn't going to be in until Tuesday around 3pm. So I went Tuesday and waited for my car to be completed. They then informed me that my battery cable was corroded. I asked them to show me the corrosion (they seemed alarmed that I wanted to actually see and not just take their word) so they switched the story to the connector was loose (big difference between "loose" and "corroded") and could NOT be tightened so I needed new cables (approx.$69). It so happens that the mechanic I took it to before having it towed to CB confirmed that the connections were NOT loose when they looked at it. So I didn't get the cables replaced since they were obviously just trying to create a problem so they can charge me more.

At this time I start to remember the misdiagnosis for my A/C and them trying to charge me almost 3 times the amount. I started to become tired of their games. Sure enough once the alternator was replaced my car was pulled up and left running. They also charged me the $89 for the wrong diagnosis from the A/C and said I had to pay that for them to honor the warranty for the alternator. Basically they were using the warranty on alternator as leverage to get the $89 out of me.

These people have 101 reasons to overcharge. I went to pump gas and after tried to start itit died out immediately. I pumped the accelerator with my foot and it stayed on. I then took it to a third party ASE mechanic and they confirmed the cable WAS loose but didn't need to be replaced ONLY tightened. At this point it became obvious that a mechanic at CB had loosened it to try to make an extra $69 off me. I went back to CB and confronted Keith and some other gentlemen. Keith became loud and started saying he was tired of me talking and for me to get the hell out. I explained what happened, but they knew they had been caught in a lie so all they could do was get loud and irate and try to ignore me. I talked to Chip Jennings (the owner) the next day (WED around noon) I show up and I asked keith in front of Chip why he told me what he did the previous day and Keith stayed quiet and some other worker there blatantly lied and said Keith never said anything. They like to cover each other and their logic seems to be that even if you are right if 2 people say you are wrong then you are wrong (majority wins mentality) I proceeded to tell Chip the car would not start correctly because his mechanics didn't fix it right. I showed him paperwork from an HONEST mechanic that I took it to that stated the NON START issue was caused by a step CB did not take when repairing alternator.

Even when Chip was confronted with proof from a non-biased third party professional mechanic he denied that CB did anything wrong and even mocked other mechanics. Chip tried to use every mode of rationale to not address the facts presented to him. I expressed to Chip my willingness to let him correct the situation and he seemed as if he just wanted to make excuses. It seems that Christian Brothers Automotive (LOUIS HENNA LOCATION) customer care includes ripping people off and they try to use the word CHRISTIAN IN THEIR NAME TO CONVEY AN IMAGE OF TRUST. Then when they have your trust they try and put fear into you by using what if scenarios. If you want to do business with people like this then go right ahead, I am just letting people know my experience with these people in hopes others can avoid the rip off situation I was faced with.

It seems CB on Louis Henna just preys on people that don't know about cars and then when confronted with someone that does they have no logical explanation for their shabby work. I am certain CB will deny what I said, but I have proof from non-biased ASE certified mechanics.
