I needed a good used transmission for a 2005 Diesel Golf. I called European Auto Parts and got their business voice mail. I left a message briefly stating what I needed. Soon after Mike called me for additional information to get the correct transmission. He stated he would call me back and let me know if he could get the trany since they didn't have one in stock.
The next day he called and informed me he found the ONLY trany for a 2005 Golf diesel in the United States. He stated the transmission would be shipped directly to me, had 36,000 miles on it and carried a six month warranty. He would have to order it and would require prepayment of $950.00. Because of his great service and follow up so far I had no reason to doubt the transaction would go sour. I also have used the in years past and never had any problems.
I cut him a business check and the next day he called and stated he was in the area delivering parts and if the check was ready he would stop by and pick it up. Unfortunately I paid by company check instead of credit card and patiently waited two weeks and never received the trany. I called repeatedly leaving messages for Mike inquiring where the transmission is. I never received any return calls and they never answer their phone, it always goes to voice mail.
Needless to say the check has been cashed and cleared. It was signed by European Auto Parts at their Bank of America which prevented me putting a stop payment on the check.
I have used this company many times a few years ago and never had any problems until now. We had no reason to question their integrety or business ethics. After googling the company and reading about numerous BBB complaints and RIP OFF complaints I realized the mistake... But too late.
I have attempted to drive to their locations only to find the web information is a bogus address and location that doesnt exist. I was truely amazed at the numerous company name changes and addresses given.
I did a reverse lookup on the fax number off their parts invoice and it now shows Hotline Foreign & Truck Parts Co owns this fax number and has the same bogus address that European Auto Parts claims is their address. Unfortunately the address is also incorrect.
I intend to pursue this with the BBB, Colorado Attorney General's Consumer Fraud Office, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox news stations, and Tom Martino and the IRS for tax fraud. If he is frauding consumers he probably is committing tax fraud as well.
People and businesses like this needs to be premanently put out of business and prevent them applying for a business liscense. They give reputable businesses a bad name.
