Midnight Services towed our son's car on Saturday, Feb. 7th. Parents are filing report because son is a student and parents are registered owners. Car was towed from apartment parking lot where he has lived since Aug.'08.
He was notified and called Midnight Services. He said they didn't tell him anything. Mother called and was told car was towed due to no permit sticker from apartment complex. So n very sure that sticker was clearly visible on windshield. Mother went on internet and discovered numerous complaints regarding Midnight Services. Police were called. They were sympathetic but said they couldn't help because this is a civil matter rather than criminal. They did say they had other complaints and that this action was "overly aggressive". Also that many tow companies check license plate instead of sticker.
Parents drove 3 hours to campus and paid $210 to get car back. When checking interior of car, university sticker for parking on campus was still intact. No trace of apartment sticker anywhere. We are wondering if sticker may have been removed deliberately, then car was towed. Apartment manager, Better Business Bureau, and Illinois Commerce Commisssion Police have been notified. Our son was legally parked; he did nothing wrong! He lives there! What a rip-off!
