I would like to say that it's been a while, but even still, the GoodYear that I got ripped off at is still there, looking for their next victim. The manner I got ripped off was so outrageous that it was almost a nightmare.
Okay. I need to check my breaks because they were smoking going downhill from the mountains. I go to the closest GoodYear because I have a credit card (with enormous a.P.R.). I go to Sher Tires branch of GoodYear in Upland, Ca. Off of Foothill Bl. To see if there may be another cause for the smoking brakes other than just overexurtion. Well, I wish I could remember the manager's name, he was older and overweight, that's all i can remember to describe him. He tells me that I need my roters turned, that I need to be charged for a lot of parts, over 200$. I ask my fiancee (bless his heart, although he knows nothing about cars), who says to go ahead and get it done because it needs to be done.
So I authorize them to do the work and charge my acccount for it. Same night I get it back, I'm on the freeway, breaking for the offramp and my car begins to squeek when I apply the breaks.
I take it back, they tell me they need to charge me 50$ more for a cotterpin that they need to put in, that I'll need to wait for them to order it. So when I go back home, I read over my recipts from them, go to an auto parts store, find out that they overcharced me 3 times as much for each part, and that the cotterpin is included in one of the kits they charged me for. So if it was in the kit, why wasn't it on there?
I go to PepBoys for a free break inspection and they tell me that my roters needed to be turned and that basicly that they couldn't professionaly say that Cher Tires never did the work (because they wern't there) but if I paid for the service, I should go back because my brakes appeared to have no work done.
I go back to Sher Tires, pleasant as can be, and then call the man on the fact that he was charging me 50$ for the part I already paid for and asked what work had been done. He tells me that my roters are all warped because in 2 days I somehow managed to compleatly warp them, giving them ridges deeper than a record.
He refuses to accomidate me, he refuses to give me an adjustment on the overpricing of parts or labor rendered. He yells at me to get out of the store repeatedly and sreams at me, "How dare you tell me what my boys did and didn't do, I know they did the work, now get out!"
Well, my story with them goes to Riverside, because I could never get a hold of the Sher tire corperate office, so I decide to drive down there (mind you Riverside is a bit far). They tell me they'll fix my brakes and not charge me again for it, and that I can complain to the head guy when he is free. I wait for several hours, and this guy comes in and with an appology asks me to come back the next day because he was swamped. So I come back the next day. They tell me 7 or 7:30pm. I give them my pager # and go with my fiancee to the mall. No page, so 7pm I go back, and they are completely locked up with my car inside!
I had to call my Mother, who was tring to study for final exams. She comes to get me, takes my fiancee back to Ontario, (at least a hour and 1/2 drive east) then takes me back home to Pinon Hills in the desert (about a 2 hour drive north), and almost home when we were hit by a drunken driver (we were both shaken, but okay). We did not get home untill after 2 am. This was all because they locked my car in the shop because they never paged me! I call the shop the next day and they say they cannot pay for me to have a rental car, and my work is over a 1/2 hour drive away. I had to bum rides to and from work for a week and had my fiancee's Mom drive all the way out to Riverside to pick up my car. I never was allowed to complain to their head manager (I could have gone back and waited outside his office, but with all the hell I went through), I am never going to go back to either Sher tires.
I just thought you all should know what a rip off and what a nightmare this all led to me, it was horrible! I'm still paying off that "Break Work" on my credit card to this day! Please don't go there, they are bloodthirsty for fresh meat!

I would like to say an appology for any spelling errors, and I am not sure if it's 'Cher Tires' or 'Sher Tires'. I would also like to say, that not all GoodYears are bad, just the Sher Tires branch. Gemini branch of GoodYear in Montclair and Victorville are both so far great to me, no complaints about them, in fact Montclair gives extra for my buisness.
