Speedy / Mr Tire / Monroe Brakes Monroe's Claim, Brakes Forever! $99.99

Monroe's claim!!!
Brakes forever! From $99.99

On 12/02 I took my suburu impreza into the Monroe Brake Service Center located at 6227 Belair Rd. It was brakes forever as my car never left three different brake centers until 01/09 (39 days!)

On the evening of 12/02 I went to the center to pick up the car. Drove it off the lot and right back on the lot. The $200 brake job was worse than when I drove it in that morning. I was told to leave it and the manager would again look at it. I explained that I wanted them to take their time to get it right as I had another vehicle. They took their time alright. I never heard from them after a week and went back to find out what was going on.

I was not received well and was treated as if I was being a pain in their neck. They had nothing more to offer except they would bleed the brakes again. I did not argue and left without my car. I contacted the customer service corporate office and spoke with a female rep. She immediately said there was not much she could do except call that service center and find out what was going on and would get back to me. Another week went by and I heard nothing from her either. While the car sits on the Monroe lot for a month, no one at that center ever called me for any reason the whole time.

I called the customer service center again in NY and spoke with a Joe Sullivan. I explained the entire ordeal. He spoke with the manager at Monroe where my car sat and informed me that they would have it repaired for me.in 3 days I visited the center to see how the repair was going. Keep in mind I never received a call that it was ready but was told by the same mechanic that is was finished. Drove the car off the lot and right back on once again.

I contacted Joe Sullivan at the corporate office and insisted that I go to another service center. He agreed and sent me to the 7700 Harford Rd location so they could look at the car. They said I needed a new master cylinder and should not drive the car as it was dangerous. Joe inisited that I return to Belair Rd location that they would work with me and him to repair it and that he was confident they could satisfy the problem. I returned the car to the Belair Rd location that same day.

After 2 days I called the Center and was told they were waiting for a part. After 3 additional days I went in and was told that they put in a new master cylinder. However, the mechanic himself told me that he was sorry that he thinks he took my key home that night and I would have to come back the next day. I had another key so I drove the car off the lot and to my residence which is no more than 3 blocks away. The car continued to have the same problem as if nothing was done.

After contacting Joe once again he suggested I take it to Monroe Center at 1532 E Joppa Rd and have them inspect it. I did and after 2 days was told that there were several adjustments that needed to be done on the brakes and that after inspection the brakes were fine. I asked if there was a new master cylinder installed at any time while in Monroe's. He informed me that he talked to the manager at the Belair Rd center who told him he put a new one on and then re-installed the old one because it made no difference in the performance. His rationalle was that he was not going to spend a couple hundred dollars for a new master cylinder.

Joe left a message on my answering service almost sympathetic with the faulty center saying that they installed two master cylinders. For a $200 brake job I received the following:

1.39 days without a car
2. Grease all over my seat and inside cloth upolstry.
3. The loss of my car keys
4. Not to mention the extreme inconveinence and aggrivation involved.

I would never suggest to anyone to go anywhere near a Monroe Service Center or anyone affiliated with them!!!
