My brother in law took me and my husband's truck into the Just Brakes that just opened on North Beach Street. They told him that the front rotors needed to be replace at $299 each. He told them that we did not have the money for that, he just wanted the brakes replaced. When we went back later in the afternoon to pick up the truck, they said the truck was fixed. I started the truck and as I was leaving the parking lot, I noticed that I had to push the pedal almost to the floor to get it to stop. I had to take my husband to the doctor so I just went home. It felt like there was still air in the line. Plus, our truck has to have a metalic brake pad to ensure the ABS works properly, and the one the supposedly put on the truck was organic. This happened on Wednesday Dec 31. After reading all of the reports on here, we are going to just eat the $99 and replace the brakes ourselves as soon as we can.
Part of this is my brother in law's fault for taking the truck there. My car is a 97 Hyundai Tibouron FX. Last summer I took my car to another Just Brakes to have the brakes done. They told me that everything was rusted and that it would cost almsot $1200 to fix. We told them just to put everything back on and we would have to do it later. They snapped a lug off the hub (that already was missing a lug when I got it and that they wanted me to replace). When I reported them to the BBB, they said that since the store did not give me a copy of the contract that I must have gone to Midus or another brake shop not one of theirs.
We are going to double check to see if they actually replaced the brakes tomorrow. If they didn't I am going to report them to the Texas Attorney General's Office. I can't believe that they are still in business after screwing so many people over, and that they do not give any paperwork to the customer until after you pay. Surely there is something that can be done about these criminals!
