I can't offer you any advice with Chrysler, but I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone. Ford credit is just as bad. I have been trying to work with this scum for the last month to no avail. I was fired from my job back in April, basically I was set up and had no recourse. I live in Michigan which is probably the worst state to live in if you are unemployed. I cashed in my 401k to try to keep up on my payments for my car but it was inevitable that I fell behind.in August they threatened to repo my car if I did not pay three months payment immediately, they basically could have cared less. I ended up borrowing the money from a friend just not to lose the car. I finally got a job at the beginning of October and again tried to make arrangements with them. Would they help? No, they wouldn't even accept my money. Both my mom and I have spent hours on the phone, talking to different reps every time as you can never talk to the same person that you did previously. I am finally making very good money and can bring both cars up to date, but they have decided that's not good enough and are repoing both cars.
Yesterday they told my mom that we should have moved out of the state a long time ago, that I was a liar and that I quite my job - I wasn't fired, that we lie about everything, and that I won't hold this job as I have a history of losing jobs, all of which is completely untrue. My mom pleaded with them that we are finally chapter 13 bankruptcy as that is the only way we can save the cars, they said too bad, you're going to lose them anyway. So now I'm sitting in fear that I will lose my car and have no way to get to work. I am filing the court papers Monday, but it's pretty sad that I have to do this for a car when my bank I have my mortgage through has worked with us from day one and been understanding and let's face it, a mortgage is a lot more money then a damn car. My mom ended the conversation yesterday by telling the rep that she'll get hers when the big three shut down and she loses her job. Isn't that the truth? Do these people have any idea that they are also one step away from being in the same situation? I guess not. At least I'm trying to own up to my debts and not walk away from them by filing chapter 7, but according to Ford I'm still worthless and the scum of the earth. So it just proves why the big three are in the financial trouble they are in, they deserve every bit of what they are going to get.
