I own an event booking agency. I was booking a Used Car Tent Sale for Sunrise Ford. I had the location for the sale and the contract with set dates.
I went to the city of Fontana to secure the operating permits for the sale. The amount of the temporary use permit for the event had risen by $490.00. I called my contact at the dealership, apprised him of the situation, asked if I could write the check and be reimbursed by the dealership as this would be easier than going back to the dealership, waiting for a new check to be issued and then go back to the city office. The contact said yes, go ahead, we will reimburse you. I did so and completed all necessary steps at the city of Fontant to obtain permit.
Sunrise Ford then asked me to change the dates of the car sale to following weekend. I called the shopping center and was told no, that would be impossible. The dealership had done too many date changes in the past with the shopping center and the shopping center manager was done with that. So, sale was cancelled.
The city does not issue refunds on permit applications as they had started their work and had nothing to do with the lost sale.
Sunrise Ford has now refused to pay me my own money ($490) back on permit. They have defaulted on a loan of a lousy $490.00. I have now taken action in small claims court against them.
I am a small business owner and $490.00 to me is a lot more than $490.00 to a large Car Dealership. Additionally, there is principle involved here. If these people cannot stand by their word on a small loan, well, I would never buy a car from them.
I believe their actions towards me represents their overall lack of honesty and integrity. I would advise Ford buyers to look elsewhere for their next purchase. Basically, I believe, actions towards one is a representation of actions towards all.in my opinion, only, these people can't be trusted.
