I bought a 1996 FORD Contour from Spitzer in Amherst, OH in October of 98. This was a not even TWO YEAR OLD CAR!
I had trouble with it the second day I owned it. It wouldn't start. Now don't get me wrong, at first when things started going wrong, Spitzer towed and paid for rentals.
After about two years of this car constantly going in and out of the shop on literally a weekly basis, they started not fixing what they were supposed to, leaving my transmission seals ripped because they didn't want to replace it and I kept complaining and complaing that it wasn't shifting right, they just kept telling me I was crazy.
It cought on fire FOUR times, ALL ELECTRICAL, it had a gas smell and THREE different times they couldn't "duplicate" the smell, after that my son then 8mo. Old had a seizure and they fixed the gas smell and never made a repair order for it. Blah blah blah. I could go on for days.
I kept a DETAILED log of the car, when it went in the shop, what repair orders I never received after the work was done, etc. I contacted three different attorneys and none of them would do anything for me. Spitzer probably paid them off. Wouldn't doubt it.
After my 3 year 45,000 mile warranty was expired my transmission went (gee I wonder why), and my personal mechanic told me that someone purposley broke the clip that clips from the wiring harness into the crank shaft sensor so everytime I hit a bump, in the middle of the highway, wherever I was, my car would die.
I would have to get out, lift my hood and dig deep down into the engine to plug this thing back in. WITH MY KIDS THEN AGES 3 and 1 in my car. Now mind you, my warranty specifically said that no one but a Authorized Spitzer dealer could make repairs to my car. NOT EVEN OIL CHANGES! I would never take it to anyone else because of this reason.
When my warranty was up (by mileage and I have no clue who put the miles on my car because I drove more rentals then I did my own car)! They told me I needed $6,000 to fix my transmission and my wiring harness. As a single mother, I did what most people would of done. Gave it back to the bank.
After making $300 a month payments RELIGIOUSLY for 2 1/2 years! Go to hell Alan Spitzer. I hope you rot there! Taking advantage of a young single mother just trying to buy a decent car to get back and forth to work. Now your ruined my credit, you f@#$%^& bastard.
I have no good words for you and I have stopped over two dozen people from ever buying a vehicle from any of your dealerships!
I will CONTINUE telling my story and showing my log until the day I die! My word will get out.
You took a LOYAL business your past relatives made and turned it into SHIT. Thats right, SHIT.
