Though my husband and I realize that these are tough times and that businesses need to make money, our patience has run out and we are so completely dismayed by the outright highway robbery of Tire Kingdom. They have always told us that we need new car batteries when the batteries tested fine at the local auto parts shop, and today they told us that we need 4 new tires on our car even though the tires have less than 20,000 miles on them and are less than 2 years old - it's not like I drive the car over gravel or bad roads.
When we retrieved our contract and found that we have a 40,000 mile tire warranty, they then informed us that one of the tires was split, it is not a manufacturer's defect and so it must be covererd by "road hazard" insurance and the contract does not cover such. Unfortunately, we were not informed of this "qualifying" language and wished were told so we could have had that option or rejected the extra money for the relatively useless, 40,000 mile warranty. One of the managers also said, "The way they HOOK you is that they test the tires on a really lightweight car and of course they last over 60,000 miles." Being as polite as possible to the thieves so as not to give them reason to actually slit the tires, we left it alone but will never go back again.
We are looking for reputable tire companies but I see several scams, including Walmart, Sears and Tire Kingdom, so if any of you have had any honest dealings with tire companies, please let us know.
