Browsing Autotrader.com for purchase of a car. Found a 2003 Volkswagen Convertible for $3500!! Too good to be true? Emailed seller to show interest. Seller sent limited info and to use Moneybookers.com to secure the transaction.
I researched online and came across a member of Yahoo Canada who was asking the same question... If their email sounded like a scam and mentioned Moneybookers. As I read the email the member had received, it sounded familiar! Word for word... Even down to the company to be used in the shipment of the car... Except seller had different name, city location, price of car and model! Otherwise the email was identical.
I have kept all of the email correspondence with Justin. Once I asked for a different escrow service to use and that I was leery and asked for the VIN#, his full name and phone number, I have not heard from him again after he said he would begin the transaction and I would hear from Moneybookers soon.
The ad is still on Autotrader. You can view it when you search on Autotrader for used 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle. It listed as "newly listed" and asks for $3500... Beautiful car, but probably someone else's car! The member on yahoo goes by sugarfreebmx. I have notified Yahoo and will also nofify Autotrader.
I fear that I am just one of his potential victims and that he probably has many who have been duped by now. Fortunately, I did research first, but I spent many days doing it, pondering it, and asking for advice before I came upon the yahoo member that sealed my suspicions.
