Canceling flights 3 days prior to departure

My fiancée and I have booked our direct flight early this year from SIN to BKI for our wedding preparations and relative's wedding. Due to tight schedule, we decided to take MI392 which depart SIN at 0815am and reach BKI at 1115am. Which allow us the time to meet up with our wedding planner and family dinner on the same day.

Ticket has been paid off and both of us looking forward for our flight home.

However, received call from Silkair 3 days prior to our departure flight and informed us they have to cancel the flight and now we have to depart in the evening at 0510pm and reaching BKI at 0710pm. Silkair asked us to understand their situation, but what about us?

What is the use of booking flight earlier when airlines will cancel flights due to insufficient quota.

Who should compensate us the time that we have spent to arrange for trips and events that we will miss out!!
