BoiseWest Coast Car Company Beware of West Coast Car Company

My experience with West Coast Car Company has been an absolute nightmare! I would'nt recommend anyone buy a car from them, EVER! The nightmare started when my husband stopped in one day just to check the cars out. He found a couple that seemed pretty decent and started dealing with Abel, one of the salesmen. My husband decided to fill out a credit application to see what we would qualify for, if anything. We were approved for a loan, but it wasn't a whole lot, which was suprizing because our credit isn't that great.

At the time we were pretty desperate because the car we had was breaking down. West Coast said they would take my car as a trade and they would try to find something for us, that fit in our price range. The first car that we were interested in was sold right out from under us. We were actually on our way to the other location which was on Fairview, after Abel called and was told the car wasn't sold but someone would be in around three o'clock to look at it and probably buy it. The minute we pull up to the other lot and walk in the manager says "it's sold, sorry! I was shocked that in the entire 8 minutes it took to get over to the other lot the car was sold! Talk about great service! My husband and I waited outside for someone to tell us what was going on and no one offered any information. About 20 minutes of standing there looking stupid the salesman came out and we left.

We got a call a couple days later and was told that they had a great deal for us. We were on our way down when we got another call and was told to just wait because it wasn't that great of a deal afterall. The next day we get another call and are told that they have a car that would fit our needs, and we qualified for it with no co-signer. When we get down there and see the car it was nice looking, but we were unable to test drive it because it had just been traded in a few hours before and the paperwork wasn't finished yet. We sat there for a few hours waiting and started to process paperwork. We were then informed it would be the next day before we could take the car home or do anything else. I was also informed that if the bank called me to just say "yes" to everything they were asking me and was told it was called happy booking and I shouldn't repeat that to anyone because it was illegal. I then realized that these salesmen didn't care about anything but making some money.

My husband goes down the next day and was told the car couldn't get taken yet because now they were waiting on the bank to pay the loan off first. This process took over 3 days of being told to come get the car, and then told not to because they didn't have their money yet.

I was tired of being screwed around and called to speak with the manager, Fidel. What a mistake. The minute he got on the phone I explained what was going on and how frustrated I was, he tells me we have to wait for the bank to pay off the car first, but not that nicely. I asked him did he even care that we were the ones playing the waiting game and really didn't have time to wait. He started making comments about how he didn't really care one way or another if we got the car or not because he could simply sell it out from under us for a lot more money than what they were getting the car for. He was rude and nasty so I asked him for the owners name and he said the owner lived in another state and it wouldn't do me any good any way. He refused to give me any information. On Wednesday, we finally got called to come pick up the car, it was ours but we had to sign some more paperwork.

When we get there we head straight into Conrads office (the loan officer) and he starts printing a new contract. He tells me where to sign and I look the contract over, then I see the monthly payment has gone up about $50.00 and the price of the car is about $2000.00 dollars more than the first contract we signed. Then I see that I was signed up for GAP insurance without my authorization and that was $600.00 more on the price. He insisted that the bank says I have to have the insurance and no other explanation was given. My husband asked what was going on and why weren't we told about the changes. What he said was "oh, sorry, I guess I should have said something first, huh?" At this point I was ready to run but was desperate for a car, so I signed the contract and gave them $1000.00 cash for the down payment. My husband and I walk out to get the car and notice it wasn't cleaned, vaccuumed or anything. Abel said he was just too busy to do it. Then when we go start the car it won't even start so we need a jump.

It has been 3 days since we picked up the car and we are driving home from Boise and the car starts making a horrible noise and looses power. We have to pull over on the side of the road and the car dies, and won't restart. My husband calls Fidel and he says "his brother never had any problems with the car", they claim they would have someone come out and take a look, and they would work with us on the price of the service. We get OUR mechanic to check it out and find out the engine is shot. So it was towed home, and is now sitting.

A warning to everyone who steps foot on the lot, you won't get great customer service unless you have great credit, and if you are a woman it is even worse. The loan for the car was in my name but no one would call me to update me about what was going on.
