Complaint / Review
Cody Chouinard
Fraud Alene

Shock is the only word I can use to describe my feelings after I purchased my first motorcycle off of e-bay with the description of "all original and very good condition with a clear title." I saved everybit of money I received for my high school graduation and my summer job to make my first major purchase.

After shopping locally and on the internet, I finally made my purchase in October. My bike arrived on Oct 31 and on initial inspection, I thought the bike looked good. After starting the bike and taking it on a short test drive, my father and I were concerned when the bike stopped running at the end of our driveway. I called Cody about the problem, and he said that condensation often occurs during shipping over a long distance. He suggested to clear the release valve under the tank and run a few gallons of gas through the bike. He assured me this was all the bike needed.

During this week my grandmother was seriously ill and eventually died on Nov. 4. During all the stress of funeral arrangements and the arrival of out of town relatives the 5 day escrow period was expiring. After a few more calls to Cody, we were convinced that the bike's problems were minor and I trusted his integrity, so I released the money.

The running condition of the bike did'nt improve, so we enlisted the help of a local mechanic because the nearest Honda dealership was 35 miles away from my home, and I had no way to get the bike there.

The bike is now at [the cycle shop]. Since the bike has been in the hands of the mechanic it seems that the situation becomes more severe each day. To date it has been discovered that the bike has been previously wrecked and repainted. The circit board has been cracked causing none of the gauges to light up. After market fender has been added. Putty has been discovered around the gas tank and several patch marks have been found on the inside of the inner fairing around the head light. The motor has been severly abused and one of the cylinders has bad compression. He estimated the damages to be around $3000 and i only paid $3900 for the whole bike. The bike is considered to be a total loss. Or in other words it cost more to fix it than what it is worth.

At this point the seller refuses to take any responsibity for the condition of the bike. He denies knowing that it was wreaked and also denies that it had any mechanic problems before it was shipped. Everyone who has seen the bike to this date states that it is impossible not to have known about these problems before it was sold. I would like a complete refund of the $3900 purchase price. I would also like my $650 shipping refunded and any mechanic bills up to this date in trying to discover all of this bikes problems refunded. Once i receive all my money I will ship the bike back to Cody at his expense.
