I recently got taken by a related scam. I purchased a used Toyota Prius from Michael (AKA Mychael) Tanner. His company is called Myautoco, but he sells the cars as a private owner on Craigslist. He claimed to me that the car he sold me was a theft recovery and had not been in an accident but in actual fact the car had been in a serious accident and the repairs were of low quality. I have had to put a good deal of money into fixing the car after his lie. He refused to pay for the repairs. But, this isn't the worst of it. He sold the car with HOV lane stickers which turned out to be counterfeit. I asked him when I purchased the car from him what he would do if the stickers weren't valid or transferable. He said he'd refund my money and take the car back. Now he's stating that he'll only buy it back at 60% of the purchase price or help me sell it at 15% of the purchase price. I am, of course, not willing to sell a car to someone else with fake stickers on it. Bottom line is that the seller, Michael Tanner, is lying about his cars and is affixing fake HOV stickers, as well. He continues to sell cars on Craigslist... Many or most with HOV stickers that are likely fake. As of this posting, there are three Priuses being sold by him on the site that are suspicious. Http://sfbay.
