On April 30 I took my 1995 Ferrari 348TS to Auto Toy Store for them to sell on consignment. On June 4th, I called to question where the car is as I did not see it while passing by. Herb Fishman told me that it was at the detail shop as they had someone interested in it & wanted it to look it's best. I also mentioned that I had checked their website & saw that it was no longer on line. Herb told me that they had a problem with some of their listings getting dropped.
In speaking to Herb the following week, he told me that the customer hadn't made up his mind yet, meanwhile, I keep driving past the dealership and the car is not there. On Tuesday June 17th, my son stopped in to inquire about his IPOD adapter possibly being in the car. Herb told him that the car was once again in the detail shop. A friend & I went to the dealership the next morning (Wed. 18th). Herb greeted me by saying that he checked & the adapter wasn't in the car.
At this point, I told him that I wanted to pick the car up from the detail shop. He then says that he doesn't know which shop it is at. Didn't he just say that he called them about the adapter? I pressed him to call all the detail shops that they use. After watching him try to squirm his way through all of the lies, he then says that the car is actually at a body shop as it was hit. Of course, then I wanted to know what body shop.
Again, he didn't know as they use several. As an RV dealer with over 250 units in inventory, I know where every unit is when not on my premises. After watching Herb continually tripping over his lies, the entertainment value in this fiasco left me and I demanded either the car, a check for the $45,500, or I would call the police. Herb then went into another office while my friend and I walked outside.
Fter several minutes, the Finance manager, Gary came out telling me that the owner was at Bordentown Auction & was on his way back to write a check for the car as it had been sold but they were having financial difficulties & were using my $45,500 to float their business. I asked my friend to swing back for the check as I had to get to work. If you can believe this, when handing him the check, they asked if I would hold it for a few days so that it would clear.
That took some strong intestinal fortitude. This is the same company that is asking people to invest in their Exotic Car Rentals requiring an initial membereship fee. I would be more than a little concerned if I were investing in anything to do with Al Sciubba or any of his ventures. This company doesn't deserve to be in business and is the epitomy of everything shady about the car business, & this is coming from someone very close to that industry. I thought that I had seen all of the tricks, but this experience took the prize.
