First off I would like to say I am the son, these are my parents. I also happen to be an ASE Certified Tech and I also worked for this company. They purchased (4) 50,000-mile tires, a lifetime alignment ETC from this location.
I personally checked out this vehicle before the work was done. After 10,000 miles on these tires they where worn out LFO 1/32 LFI 2/32, RLO 1/32 RLI 2/32, RRO 3/32 RRI 3/32, LRO 3/32 LRI 4/32. This wear after 10k miles after an "alignment" they say they did.
In my experience this should not have happened even if the alignment and recommended tire rotations where done a 3k miles. When the tire where brand new they had 5/32 to 6 on them that means -2.5/32 in 10,000 miles. The wear pattern was negligible at best its how fast they wore down. Hard cornering and stiff braking would wear them this way but not this badly
Why am I saying all of this? Its because of mediocre work at best and the shi! #y business practices. Tire managers get bonuses on what they sell. My parents brought the vehicle back to them had more work done $1,400 worth of maintenance that never needed to be done. Lets take the cooling system for example. Yes they did "clean out the system" but they did it with "recycled" coolant and not at a 50/50 ratio and to top it all off they didn't even hook up the AC fan and they have been driving all over town almost overheating, did I mention these are senior citizens and its 115F here in Arizona in the shade.
Here is the kicker after the tires where worn out they brought the vehicle in to get them replaced under warranty (pro rated out) they would not do it or give them any credit. I have the service checkout and nothing would explain why they didn't warranty the tires. So my parents had the tires replaced not knowing what to do.
After the alignment was done on the NEW tires... Wooooooooo low and behold the car needed camber kits... How could this be? And they needed to be installed to obtain the correct alignment.
Why the FU$% was this not told to them when they purchased the goddamn tires and a lifetime alignment at $140.00... You got it folks they need the flag time they get 1.5hr for an alignment not including the kit install even after you paid for a lifetime alignment. It does not include and extra parts or labor.
Why would it need camber kits AND tires at 10,000 miles after the initial alignment! The car had no accidents, hit no curbs, had no terrorist attack, and was not an act of god.
There was a Ballet of BS from the store manager on this and not a damn thing he said would cause this type of wear on a 50,000 mile tire. He even blamed it on balancing and separation... SEPARATION! YA think.
Where on gods green earth green earth did it come from first
1. Improper inflation (there was 35 in all tires which is recommended.)
2. Balancing problem small cupping on 1 tire.
