Aamco
Took me big time

I have included what I sent to the aamco customer relations department. If you want or need any more info please contact me. Please let me know if i am way off base. Maybe I am wrong but as a consumer I feel that I never got my $1300 worth of repairs.

I will dispense with the opening pleasantries and get to the point. I am totally dissatisfied with aamco. I feel that their quality of expertise in transmission repair is far below par and am sorry that I ever got involved with you shoddy so call repair center. Have been to two of your centers and am disgusted with both. Took my car to the center that used to be located on Rivers Ave in N. Charleston. Apparently I was not the only one taken in buy the aamco name because before my year warranty was up the center was close down. Had major trouble with the car again and took it to the center at 1550 Old Trolley Road in Summerville SC. Took the car to the center a number of times because they could not fix the transmission as well.

All in all must have been back to aamco at least a dozen times with some of the returns having needed major repair work done to the transmission again. Car barely made it through the 12-month warranty period, with the car being in the shop the last week of the warranty. The car never ran the same but could not complain because it did move.

Six months after the warranty the car dies again. My feelings are that the car was never fixed to begin with. Aamco looked at the car and gave me a bill of $2000. I initially paid $1300 to fix the car. The center told me that they could do nothing for me and suggested I call aamco customer service. The best that they could do was cover the cost of labor ($700). There was no way that I was going to give aamco another $1300 dollars and was all set to take the car out the shop. The owner, lee, stopped me saying that he did not want to see a dissatisfied customer and said he would see what he could do. The car stayed in the shop over a month before he made the final offer to fix the car for $900. Still and outrageous sum as far as I am concerned. I was willing to split the difference when he had dropped the price during that month to $1000. I am glad that he did not accept my offer because you don't even deserve that. If a professional from the start fixed the car I would not need to put money into it again.

Every time I had to take the car back to the shop it was a great inconvenience to me. The loss of the use of the car for the dozen times it was in the shop come to about a month. No apologies no compensation was offered, nothing. Even the shop on Trolley Road has had three different managers since I had the unfortunate bad luck of dealing with them. Shows me that they don't have their act together either.

I will never enter an aamco center again. I will do my best to make sure no family members or friends enter an aamco center. I will tell my story on every automotive chat room that I can find. Post it on every automotive bulletin board that I can. Will also tell my story to the BBB and to anyone else who might be interested in hearing how great your company is.

Yes the car was out of warranty but my idea of a twelve-month warranty is to have the car running in good order for that period of time and not have to suffer all the heartaches and inconvenience that I had to go through. Put yourself in the customers place and ask yourself how it feels to get ripped off!!
