Sept Took Audi to Cottman for transmission problem that is covered under warranty. Transmission was pulled & "fixed". Took them over a month to do this repair.
Oct About a week after car was fixed, the check engine light came on. We took the car back, and it was fixed a second time. They had the car for more than a month for this repair.
Feb Started to leak transmission fluid. The car was submitted a third time, and Cottman kept it for 3 weeks. We had asked them to call us with an update during that time, and they never gave us any idea when to expect the car back.
March We contacted them & they promised to call us once car was completed. A week later we picked up car & found it was shifting incorrectly. I complained to them again - stating there was no possible way they could have driven the vehicle and not noticed the problem. The vehicle was not safe to drive and the current condition was certain to cause further damage the vehicle. Appt scheduled for mid April - that is the soonest they would be able to fix it.
April They had the car for 3 more weeks, all the while failing to return any of my phone calls inquiring about its status. I also stopped in 2 times and was told they had no idea what was going on and the manager, Sean, would call me. That never happened. I phoned them again, and Sean blamed it on a faulty part & said it would take a week for them to receive it.
This circus act continued, for months upon months. I spent countless hours on the phone with them, sending them letters, and attempting to reach the owner. All to no avail.
We have gone back & forth with Cottman until February (over 2 yrs!) when we decided to sell the car at an auto auction. We lost about $5000 from the depreciation of the vehicle while it was in Cottman's possession for a year and a half, not to mention the 24 car payments we were making while our Audi was inoperable!
Never in my lifetime have I experienced such an unprofessional company. The ONLY thing they are experts in is lying, deceitful manipulation, and passing the buck on their other employees. I was constantly told the owner would be calling me back. Which never happened, not even once. The employees have no respect for the owner, Jeff Umstead... And Jeff has no respect for his customers. Over the course of those 2 yrs, I have heard multiple complaints from other people in this area that have had similar experience with Cottman. I truly wish I had known that before we took our car to them. I wouldn't wish this type of experience on my worst enemy.
Now when I drive past their lot and realize that most of the cars sit in the same spot for months - I laugh, knowing that there are other innocent victims out their that Cottman is waiting to sink their teeth into.
DON'T FALL PREY to the false advertisement that they specialize in Transmissions!!!
