Bait and Switch Sales Tactics

On Thursday April 17,08 we made an appointment with Omar Brooks to look at a KIA Sadona that was advertised as a special at that time. When we got there he showed us the car, but said someone else had looked at it before us and was doing to buy it. He show us some other cars that might fit our budget, as we explained we need to find a car for no money down and a monthly payment of around $160.00 per month. Betty filled out a credit application and we waited over a hour for them to check the credit. It was getting late and we had to leave, but we said if they could get an approval we would come back in on Saturday April 19, at 2:30 to look at what they could sell for that amount. On Friday we looked at another dealer and found a car that we could have purchased for the terms we could afford, and were planning to pick-up that car late Saturday afternoon. On Saturday morning around 11:00AM I called Omar Brooks at Outten to tell him we would not be coming in at 2:30 because we found another car we were going to purchase, he thanked me for the call and hung-up. Fifteen minutes later he call back and left a message saying, "don't buy that car just yet I have a better deal for you, I have a 2006 Kia Spectra with 28,000 miles that I can sell you for no money down and a payment of $179.00 per month". A few minutes after that he called Betty on her cell phone and told her the same thing. She asked if she was approved for the credit and payment of $179.00, at which point he answered yes, all you have to do is sign and drive. Saturday April 19th. At 2:30 we arrived at Outten, we took the KIA for a test drive and told Omar we would like to buy the car. Again we sat for over a hour in his office waiting for the papers to be prepared to purchase the car, after that long wait he came in and said that the bank needed additional proof of income, and that we couldn't take the car until we provided that information. Later Saturday we faxed the additional proof they required to Omar at Outten, he said it was to late to do anything today, but that he would call us Monday morning. There was no call from him Monday morning, so at noon we call him and asked if the paper work was prepared and ready for Betty to sign. He told us they were doing it as we were speaking and that he would call back as soon as it was ready. We called Omar again at 4:00PM Monday, he told us he would check and get right back to us. After 6PM Omar call us back and told us everything was prepared and approved and that we should come in Tuesday morning and pick-up the car. Tuesday morning 10:00 AM, April 22 we arrived at Outten to pick-up the car, we sat in Omars office for 15 minutes waiting for him to bring in the papers to sign, Then he walk in and said everything was approved except we couldn't get the KIA (the car we wanted) because it didn't have enough value for the loan. At which point we became very upset and asked to see his manager. His manager came in and gave us some cock amd bull story about the bank not wanting us to have this KIA because the value was not in that particular car. He said he would provide us with a comparable car for the same payment as the KIA but with a better value. This made us very suspicious because it sounded very much like he was trying to Scam us. After waiting for another long period of time with no better offeres coming, we told Omar that we still wanted to purchase the KIA, and that we would pay cash for that car. Omar said that would be fine and proceeded to write up the paper work for the KIA. We waited while Omar stood by the sale desk talking to his manager, finally I walked over and said to the manager we still want the KIA and are willing to pay cash for it. After stumbling over his tongue a bit he finally admitted the KIA they agreed to sell us was no longer available. The reality was that the KIA was sold out from under us days before. They were just stringing us along, baiting us with a car they knew we wanted and then trying to switch us into a less valuable car for the same price. The sales people and their managers at Outten Chev. Allentown are nothing but a pack of Liars that will do anything to try and SCAM their customers...
This situation has caused us to lose the deal on a car we were willing to purchase on Saturday, we were lured away from that legitimate sale by a false promise, bait and switch tactics and downright deliberate lies for a car deal they never intended to make.
