Americredit
This company needs to be investigated for business practices

I bought a new car in 2 years out of bankruptcy. I knew I'd have to go with a higher interest rate but had to start somewhere. The dealership arranged the financing with this company. I traded in another car with negative equity so I purchased gap insurance. I also purchased credit life and disability insurance and an extended warranty because I travel for my job.

I made all my payments on time and they were paid by bank draft directly from my checking account.

On November 21 I was in a car wreck that was not my fault. My car was totaled. The other driver had insurance and so did I. I had made my car payment the day before the accident.

The other insurance company had paid the car off immediately so Americredit recieved approx $17,000 within 2 weeks. That is when the nightmare began.

I started getting harassing and threatening phone calls before my next car payment was even due. They recieved the pay-off in December, another $2700 in January as an estimate due from the gap insurance. They were told by the gap insurance that it was just an estimate and as soon as the extended warranty and credit life was paid, the gap insurance would indeed pay the remaining balance.

Americredit called me daily, usually 3 to 4 times a day DEMANDING that I continue to make regular car payments. Every phone call has ended in a screaming match. The last call I took from these rude idiots was a couple weeks ago. A woman screamed at me for several minutes, threatened me again with charging off my account, would not let me get a word in, and hung up on me. This was all over the last $1500 owed on the account. I had her on speakerphone so there was a witness to this conversation.

Everything has now been paid and Americredit should have received the last payment from gap last week.

I am composing letters to the Texas Attorney General, The Better Busines Bureau, and any and every consumer advocacy agency I can find. I would gladly do absolutely anything in my power to stop these morons from their despicable business practices. I also intend to write to every car dealership I can find to stop them from using this finance company.

If anyone out there has indeed started any type of law suit against this company, I would very much like to be included.

Thank you
