Karz Now
Frame damaged vehicle

In June I purchased a 2003 Jeep Liberty from Karz Now, LLC in Crescent City, Florida. Having known the owner and his family for nearly 20 years I figured this was my best choice of purchasing a nice used car. During our discussions of the possible vehicle sale he assured me that the vehicle was free of problems and that it was a well maintained government lease that had been on a properly followed maintenence schedule. When I test drove the vehicle it appeared to be in good shape with all options working properly.

I traded in my vehicle that was a clean vehicle with no major problems and signed a contract for which I paid 1,500 dollars for a down payment and financed nearly 17,100 dollars through my auto finance company. Over the past year and a half I have had recurring problems with my electrical and braking systems which included my running lights and tail lights becoming inoperative, mulitple fuses blowing and problems with my right rear brakes locking up on 2 different occasions.

The first hint that something was terribly wrong with my vehicle was when I brought vehicle into Sears for the brakes locking up and they asked if my vehicle had and rear end damage or axle damage from a previous accident. I told them it had not been in an accident and they replaced the caliper and brake lines.

In January I decided I was going to trade the vehicle in due to the costs of trying to keep fixing the vehicle and was told by CarMax that the vehicle had frame damage and had re-welded panels on the right rear of the vehicle. I was given the copy of the Auto-Check report which had 2 police report numbers on it.

When I contacted the Florida Highway Patrol in regards to the accident they advised me that one police report was for the actual accident and the second report was for a fatality involved in the accident. When I called Karz Now, LLC about this I was told that I could trade in my vehicle but I would have negative equity that I would have to carry over to another vehicle.

According to the Auto-check paperwork my vehicle was announced at auction as having frame/unibody damage as well as having been a government lease. There was no disclosure of the accident on any contract paperwork or buyer's guide.

I had an attorney write a letter to Karz Now, LLC explaining the seriousness of the sale of this vehicle in conjuction with state and federal laws protecting consumers against deceptive and unfair trade practices. This letter has been ignored and I have filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the State of Florida Attorney General, and the Federal Trade Commission in regards to this sale.

This dealer is still selling used cars that have been involved in accidents. Here are a few examples of vehicles with accident damage for sale currently by this dealership:
