I had my alternator replaced by the Tacoma Start Mart in April; 6 months later it went bad again! The mechanic told me that I could either take it out myself, or pay $40 and to have them do it. I was annoyed, but thought it was cheaper than paying for a new one. I showed up later to have the work done, and when I signed the work order, the charge was now $50.
I brought this to the guys attention, and he said the guy who quoted me probably meant that he could do it for $40 under the table cash??? Despite this, I agreed and was told "they'd get right on it" and call me when finished. I never got a call, and finally called them the next evening and was told the car was done the day before? I asked why I didn't receive a call and he like everyone else said "I don't know"??
Went to pick up the car and found out the alternator wasn't even replaced, they only cleaned my battery terminals!!! This I know by an employee's statement. The manager quickly corrected him and refused to return my money. Not only that, my car was left unlocked on a side street, and the $230 car seat my disabled daughter needs was stolen!
The next day, I took my car to a different Start Mart to have it tested to see what they thought, and was told the same thing. "It should be replaced" I've tried to get in touch with their corporate offices to speak with someone higher up all to no avail. Nobody seems to know anybody's last name nor their phone numbers. If anyone has this, I'd appreciate getting a hold of them.
