I needed brakes on my 1999 buick Century I had brakes put on the buick a year earlier at the parker store. The parker store did the breakes and also informed me that I had a leak in the upper end of my engine (never knew what they were looking at my engine for when all I wanted was brakes changed!). I told them I did not want them to fix it at this time.
Well 8 months later I needed brakes agian so I took it to the Brakes Plus in lakewood co because it was close to were I worked. I just wanted brakes but they called me and said I needed a gasket in the upper end of my engine. I told them I didn't want it done and the store manager spent 30 minutes talking me inot it. So I let them do it knowing I was planning on having the buick dealer do it anyway. They said it would be done by 3 that afternoon but it wasn't done till after 6pm. I stood there watching as they finished tightening bolts and putting hood back on.
I drove the car for about a week and put aprox 300 miles on it and a rod bearing went. The oil was totally black so they didn't even change the oil after changing the gasket. My local machanic said that you have to change the oil and flush the engine after replacing the gasket and they didn't. My hisband called them and told them they needed to fix the engine. After talking to many different people and much complaining they agreed that it could have been their fault and they would replace the engine with a used engine with apox 68k miles.
They said they would but the gaskets in the used engine before installing because these engines are known to have the same leak.
I finally agreed because he said the car would last many many more miles if I did this and if I didn't it could stop working any day. With the way they were talking they scared me enough that I left the car with them it took 4 days. They gave me a 90 labor and 1 year engine Guarantee.
About 2.5 months later I took it in to have oil change OH WHOOPEEE! Guess what!!! I have a leak in the same place plus missing bolts and exhaust gasket.
My son took the car to a different Brakes Plus and got a list of everything that needed fixed for me to take with me so there would be no question what needed done
I then took it back to brakes Plus approx 2 days before the 90 day Guarantee was up. Again they wouldn't just fix it, we had to talk to a lot of people hireup the ladder and these people are not friendly or customer oriented. They said they would fix the things on the list. THey said all that needed fixed was the gasket now they will fix the gasket AGAIN. Now when I went to pick up the car they made me sign a statement saying I would NEVER step foot in one of there stores again.
Well yesterday approx 300 miles after they fixed the second gasket a rod/s went and now the car is parked at denny's. My husband attempted agian to get them to fix the car and they are refusing! They are threaghtening to call the police if we call, email, or step foot in a brakes plus. My husband also tried to find out were the engine came from so he could get a replacement and they said they didn't know the engines just show up when they want one (HAR HAR) This car was in good condition no rust good body. I always got the oil changed at buick dealer and all services it needed. ALL I WANTED WAS BRAKES and now I don't have car! THe same mechanic that changed the first gasket changed the second and I got a blown up engine.
Now I am not saying they knew it was going to happen but here is an interesting thing. When my husband called this morning they said he had already left a message the morning before!!! HUMMM we were at hospital from 1am tues morning till 8PM tues night waiting for a baby to be born and the car blew up an 10 pm tuesday night so why the heck would we call the monday tuesday morning??? Wierd
I would like to file a class action suit as there seems to be many people with a problem simular to mine (most being women).
Actually I would like my car fixed!
