Rip off! Please Read... Regarding Auto Warranty

Thank you to the gentleman that posted report #305062

The same exact scenario happened to me except I really thought it was a legitimate company so was on the phone with the company for about 30 minutes. When I was contacted I was advised that my warranty had already expired and we discussed the warranty they offered (pricing, financing, etc).

The recording when I first received the call (from 442074842277 according to my caller id) stated that they were calling as a courtesy since they had sent me numerous notices via mail but i had not responded and they were basically giving me one last chance to enroll in this warranty before my case was closed (this is also what the man I spoke with said).

After reviewing the terms I asked how long I had to decide and they advised me that I had to purchase the warranty tonight and that they offered no interest financing.

I let the man know that I needed to speak to my husband about the terms and if I could call him back. He stated that he did not have a direct number but gave me customer service number and advised to leave a message. The customer service number that was given to me is 888-998-9893. I also asked for the name of the company since it was never mentioned in the recording or when the live operator answered the phone - he stated that the company name is TransAmerica Warranty and that the insurance company for the warranty is Warranty America. He agreed to call me back in 20 minutes.

In those 20 minutes I went to my car to grab my current warranty information and found out that my warranty had NOT expired and it is actually good til Dec. At this point, I decided to google the companies and found the website for Warranty America and on the main page there is a NOTICE posted & see www.warrantyamerica.net/notice... This notice basically states that if you are contacted by someone selling warranty from them it is not legitimate. Please read! If it had not been for this notice I would have fallen victim to this scam!

When the representative called me back I said "I have reviewed my records and shows that my warranty has not expired, I have over a year left on it"... He tried to state that my mileage had expired but advised him that my mileage was still below the max per my warranty. At this point, he stated that his computer showed different information.

Further researching TransAmerica I came across this site and found the report filed which described exactly what I had experienced.

Thank you!

I emailed Warranty America to confirm that the sales call was a scam but in the meantime I plan to tell everyone I can about this!

I consider myself a pretty intelligent and cautious person but I was ready to pay the down payment! Very scary!
