The Assistant manager of the store refused to honor my new $25 gift card that was given to me for Christmas. He stated that the computer refused the gift card and gave absolutely no remedy to solve the problem. He insisted that I give him my home phone number and when I refused, he told me that the computer would not accept the gift card. I never give my home phone number to auto parts stores (including O'Reilly's) and they always find a way to take my cash or credit card.
When I gave him cash for the exact same item, he took the cash with no problems but complained that I would have no warranty on the purchase. I told him that if there was a problem, I would have my receipt and return the product.
The item I purchased was an air filter for a small car. It was not a custom air filter or anything special and the purchase price was about $18
Nowhere on the gift card is it stated that the card is not valid unless home phone numbers are provided.
I wonder why my cash works at O'Reilly's but gift cards are refused.
These people are rip-off artists. I will not go back to any O'Reilly's again. It is quite a shame since I spend a lot of money on auto parts every year.
