Have a 1997 GMC Somoma 4x4 transmission began showing metal particals on dip stick at 15k miles took in to Pitre for trans service they changed fluid and serviced trans and said nothing wrong.
Transmission started slipping at 37K miles and again I took it to Pitre. Tech reported that shift is delayed may need to replace valve body and tfp switch (this is a common problem with 4l60e trans, GM needs a recall) but was not critcal.
Then at 47k miles slipping gets bad. Pitre repairs now with new valve body and because of the slipping over 10k miles needs Torque converter and. I have to pay for labor $983.00
Now at 50k miles trans is slippin again only worse. Pitre says it wont repair parts in trans that have broke that they didn't put in even that the valve body they instaled was defective. And could have caused this new incendent, want another $1000.00
How many people has Pitre and other GM dealers have taken becase they have waited till the trans is out of warranty before they even try to fix. They have known about this transmission for years but continue to fraud there customers.
PSI've heard that there might be a secert warranty from GM but they won't tell.
