I took my Infiniti in to this Meineke for a suspected exhaust leak. They lift it up, and within 10 minutes call me out to look at the car and tell me that both of my catalytic converters and the pipes were bad, and the parts were dealer only. That didn't sound right to me, but I let him call and get the quote on the parts. He quoted the parts as $1,311 a piece with plus tax and labor, the estimate ended up being $2,913.93.
I thought it a bit steep, so when I got back to my computer, I began calling other muffler shops and I asked them if these parts were dealer only, and was told by all of them that they were not. Not only that, but I called the Infiniti dealer, and they quoted the same parts as $894 a piece.
When I called Meineke and told them that I had found the same parts at the dealer for hundred of dollars less, he sounded upset and told me that he (Steve, the manager) would "look into it and get back to me". I have since gone to 3 other muffler shops who all quoted the same job for $500 or less. I got it done, along with a tune up, transmission flush, oil change, tire rotation, other tweeks, all for under $1,000. At another reputable muffler and brake specialist.
I sent emails to Meineke's customer service as well as the store, and have gotten no response.
