Dealer Sell's stolen vehicle's and goes scott free!

On 2/17 I purchased a 2003 H2 Hummer with 15,890 miles on it For $26,000 from a dealership located in Brattleboro VT. I found the car by using the website "AutoTrader.com" (which I thought was a reputable site).

I called the dealership (Marks Motors) to inquire about the vehicle. I had asked Mark himself if there was anything wrong with the truck because the price was so cheap.

He told me the only thing that was wrong with the vehicle was there was some bubbling in the paint on the hood and he didn't have the time to repair it.

I again asked if there was anything else wrong with it and he said "no, other then the hood the truck is like new". So taking his word for it, I told him I would like to give him a deposit over the phone using my credit card.

He said that would be fine. I then asked him if he could ship the car to my house and he said not a problem but I would need to pay for shipping.

I agreed and paid for the shipping. He said the truck would be going out that same week and should be at my house within 4-5 day's.

I called Mark on the 4th day to see if the truck shipped out and he said no because they had a bad snow storm and so they could not get the truck out to me but they would try the next day.

I called the next day, and asked if the truck was shipping and they had said no because no one was available to drive the truck so it would have to wait another day.

Again, I called and asked if the truck was going to be delivered and they said that they could not drive the truck to my house because it was to far for them and they were going to send the truck over by ferry by itself and I would need to pick it up.

I called the ferry and asked them if someone could send a vehicle over by ferry alone with no operator and they said "no". So I called Marks Motors up and they eventually said that they will drive it on the ferry and meet me at Orient Point and I could take the truck from there.

I didn't like it but I agreed to meet them. Once the truck came off the boat I inspected it and everything looked good other then the sunroof not working and it was filthy.

I signed a few papers saying that the truck was sold as is and that there was no warranty which was fine. But when I asked where the title was, I was told that it would need to be mailed to me because it was not back from DMV yet. When I heard that I was a little skeptical so I asked when would I get it and they said you will have it tomorrow in the mail.

Now I knew that I would not have the title the next day one because it was a Sunday and two because I know DMV and how long it takes to receive something in the mail from them. So again I agreed to wait for the title in the mail.

I drove the truck home and cleaned it up. I was excited to have it but upset that I could not drive it because it was not registered yet. I waited for about a week for the title and it never came. I called several times and got the same story that it will be here any day now. After the second week I started to get a little suspicious so I did a car fax on the car and found out that there was something on the report. I bought the report and looked through it and it said that the truck was scrapped/destroyed.

I called the DMV and told them about this and they said they would call me back. Once they called back they asked for all the information and then said they will get back to me again.

This time they said they would need to come a look at the truck. I agreed and when they came they said the truck was a stolen vehicle and they would need to confiscate it.

I asked if I would be able to get the truck back once this was all settled and they said no, the truck will be scrapped for parts.

I called the dealership several times and Mark refuses to work with me at all. I didn't even want the full amount of the money back I told him I will just settle for the remaining balance I owed on the loan. But still he refused.

I can not afford a lawyer due to the payments on this truck. If I stop paying payments I will ruin my credit. I have contacted the better business bureau, the state attorney generals office, the VT police dept, the FBI, news channels, news papers, etc. Nothing has worked. No one is willing to do anything for me.

I am now in contact with 20/20 news channel but who knows if they will help. I heard about this service on Net@nite with Amber Mcarthur and Leo Laporte and they said if consumers were having trouble with a business this was a great service. I hope it helps me.

I told them I had paid for delivery to my house
