Toyota And Its Dealers
Toyota Dealers Financially Injuring Their Sales people

To all Toyota Salespeople in the USA: You are being Financially Injured and you don't even know it. It happened to me and I caught them. Here is what happened and it is happening to you and has happened if you ever sold a Used Car from your Dealership. A Used Volvo that had an ACV of $10,000 came in on trade. A previous customer who had not purchased a week prior said to call her if a nice Used Car came in that was "sporty". The 2000 Volvo was a nice match so I called her and made an appointment with her to come down a few days later. Before she came in, I did my research on the car. I always make friends with at least two Mechanics who would let me know what was REALLY DONE ON THE USED CARS. The Mechanic told me that he was the one that worked on this 2000 Volvo.

He said that the only thing that was done on that car was, "I turned the Rotors." Nothing else. Not even an oil change because they did not stock filters for Volvos. I asked him how much were rotors, and he said that he simply turned the old ones and it only took 30 minutes. So, I figured $100 of labor on the Volvo since no oil & lube was performed. So, the true cost of the car is $10,100.

The customer comes in after I wash the car and vacuum it myself and put tire dressing on it. She loves it! Says, " how much?" I tell her it's $13,995 plus taxes and D&H. I get her the lowest Credit Union Rates she can qualify for and show her the TRUE payment. She signs! $13,995

So, after PACK and the $100 of labor to "Turn the Rotors" I have a $3,100-$3,200 PAYABLE GROSS. Two weeks later I get my commission voucher. Guess what? It says $1,700 payable. I go to the GSM and say that there is a mistake. He looks it up in the computer and says it went through the shop and there were "Shop Charges". I said, "What did they do?" He couldn't answer. So I told him exactly WHAT WAS DONE by my friend who was the Mechanic in the Toyota Shop. Guess what? The deal was adjusted to a $3,100 PAYABLE right there at the Tower with a witness who was my friend and co-worker at the Toyota Dealership.

So, as a Toyota Rep you must take action against this happening to you. Make a few friends who are Mechanics and Service Writers also. They can help you to determine the REAL cost of the Used Cars so you don't get RIPPED OFF!!! My guess is that a good Salesperson at a TOYOTA Dealership is being Defrauded out of $7,000- $ 12,000 per year. It's your money, don't let them RIP YOU OFF!
