24 Hr Transmission - Coast-to-Coast Transmission
Fraudulent repair company, nothing advertised is true, scam artist ripoff

I contacted 24 Hour Transmissions based on their webpage advertisment. I spoke with a representatiave from the company Mr. Jody Jackson and explained to him that I saw their advertisment for rebuilding transmissions starting at $897.00 and up.

I explained to Mr. Jackson that I have a 2002 Volkswagon Jetta that I needed the transmission rebuilt in. I explained that I had taken the car to a local transmission repair shop in Waldorf, Maryland close to where I live to have them check the car out and upon doing so I was told that I need to have my transmission replaced because the original could not be rebuilt.

Mr. Jackson said that indeed my transmission could be rebuilt; that's what his company specializes in. He told me that for $1197.00 my transmission would be rebuilt to factory specifications "brand new". He told me that the total amount of the transaction would be $ 1283.00 ($1197.00 for rebuilding and a 7% fuel charge which equaled out to be $87.00).

Mr. Jackson also stated to me that the only reason that my transmission wouldn't be able to be rebuilt would be if the "core" was bad and if so then he would only charge me an additional $200.00 for a replacement core. I informed him that I could not pay this amount via credit card but I would send the money via paypal payment. Which I sent to the company on March 7; upon receiving the payment an authorization form would be sent to me to complete and fax back to them.

I was told by Mr. Jackson to contact "Jennifer" at the main office so that I could give her the address of where my transmission was located to schedule pick up of the transmission. I gave Jennifer the address to where the transmission was located I also gave her the mechanics name Jeff Moon so that she could talk to him about when would be a good time to have the truck to come and pick up the transmission.

I contacted 24 hour transmission on 3/7 to see if the transmission had been picked up yet; which I was told that it had not been picked up. I was informed that it would be picked up in a couple of days and then it would take a few days for them to receive the transmission and take it apart to see how bad its damaged.

I didn't hear from anyone from the company until 3/20 only to be informed that the cost of repair is now an "additional" $1800.00 for a grand total of $2083.00; I informed Jennifer that I was told that rebuilding my transmission would only be $1283.00 and that the new total was not acceptable and that I needed to speak with the manager regarding misrepresentation of the amount that I was quoted in my original conversation and that I did not wish to have the repairs done and wanted a refund.

Jennifer informed me that she would have a manager contact me by the end of the business day; the manager never tried to call me back. I called every other day and was informed that he was out doing tow jobs and that he would try to contact me when he got in. I was not contacted until finally I was able to reach Mr. Larry Duncan on April 5.

When Mr. Duncan answered the phone with a unpleasant tone in his voice and proceeded to inform me that I would not be refunded a large portion of my money because of research time that was spent getting prices of parts that were needed to repair my transmission, pressure washing the transmission, shipping, and tying up the workbench/lift.

I tried to compromise with Mr. Duncan that I knew that I owed him some monies for shipping the transmission to them and back again to me but I did not owe any money for the other things that were performed since I was orignially quoted a different price. Mr. Duncan told me that all of what I was explaining to him was hear say and that he didn't believe me. So I told him to send me a quote of the monies he believed that were owed to me. He told me that he would have Jennifer work up the numbers and get back to me that evening. I didn't hear back from them until 4/6 to and that my refund is $200.90.

I also contacted the Better Business Bureau in Texas to file a complaint and to see if I could get some assistance regarding this matter on April 12 after Mr. Larry Duncan was so rude to me on the telephone after numerous attempts of speaking with him only for him to call me a liar because his employees and him are giving customers the bait and switch routine.

I was contacted exactly 30 days later by the Better Business Bureau in Texas to inform me that my case had to be closed because 24 Hr Transmission would not and did not respond to information that was sent to them on my behalf. Something seriously needs to be done about this company it is taking advantage of hard working people all across the United States.
