These people are complete scum and prey on the people who are down on their luck. We went there to look for a car because we couldn't secure any financing at the local dealerships and our second car was on the verge of dying. The salesmen (These people are not salesmen but rather are vultures who prey on the desperate) talked us into a car that my fiance liked. Which was a 2001 Ford Focus.
The car was a very basic stripped down focus worth about 4,000. The price was 10,500. After just pushing the papers and at the last second telling us total was going to be over 16,000. I was very worried about that but due to the circumstances thought it would work out. They sold us on the 2 year warranty and that they would take care of everything.
We traded in our other car and got a whopping $200. The first mistake they made was they took our car and could not remove the plates saying the screws were not what they had available? They were hex head screws and for crying out loud they have a full service center in the back. At this point we had been there well over three hours and the salesmen assured me he would personally remove them when the service department opened back up on monday. So we went on our way.
Well here is where it started. The salesmen never did get our plates rather he had them destroyed along with the car! The other thing that was immediately noticed was that the passenger side safety belt did not work. This was pointed out during the test drive by myself and the salesmen said that was no problem they would take care of it monday.
Well monday came and they refused to take care of this problem saying it was not under warranty. Well so much for their coveted inspection before selling their vehicles. I was upset so I started calling Ohio law enforcement offices asking if it was illegal to sell a vehicle without working safety restraints. After several calls to different agencies the answer was either " I don't think so" or "I don't know".
So I endeavored to look up the law straight from the books. I found in the books that yes it was illegal and was actually a misdemeanor. Now I had some bullets. So I called JD Byrider back and demanded the manager. I told the manager that they broke the law and recited the exact code and told them if they don't make me happy I will contact the local authorities.
He very quickly appoligized and had me bring the car in the next day. They ended up replacing the whole seat belt. Then after a few weeks I became ill and just basically slept through making a payment when it was due.
The next day I called them and tried to make a payment. They told me they needed to see me and would not take my payment. I drove down there and attempted to make the payment. They had me stand in the lobby saying I needed to see the finance manager first.By this time I was getting angry. I stood there for over 40 minutes waiting just to pay.
So finally I go back up to the window and tell them if they want my money they need to take it now or I am leaving. At that moment I noticed to very large men taking my car and driving it into their garage! Then the finance manager comes out and makes me come into a small room with two 400lb men. He would not allow my fiance inside. They forced me to sign a waiver and told me the car never existed.
They then had me empty out all my contents and stranded me on the corner! Basically they are a bunch of snakes. Doing whatever to prey on the financially weak and rake in as much as possible.including breaking laws, harassment, and humiliation. Please anyone thinking of getting into this trap look elsewhere.
