Bountiful Lincoln Mercury
Cody Johnson, owner and managment - big scammers bad attitudes Ripoff

I started a new job in the summer of 2005. It would require me to travel approximatly 40 miles a day instead of staying home with my children and SUV. I decided to buy a more econimical car that would get good gas milage. So I took it into Bountiful Lincoln Mercury where I planned to trade in my Mountaineer for a mazda 6. The finacial manager took very good care of me, he got my less than perfect credit financed and finaced also the money I owed for going over on my lease. I had been driving my new car for about a week with out signing any papers - long story SHORT, the financial manager had a heart attack andpassed away. I was throw into a different vehicle which I did not want and my money owed for miles over was not financed. I had no choice, I had started a new job and did not have the time to find a new car.

Here three years later, I am stable in my job, makeing good money, and have decided to have another child - in turn, I am in the market for another Mercury Mountaineer. Since I have purchased my last 4 cars at Bountiful Lincoln Mercury - I decided to give it another shot - can't get screwed form the same place twice right? So I go into the dealership and ask to test a specific Mountaineer I have already scoped out. It is a 2006 V8 with a HUGE window sticker of 23780. I drive it, I love it so we go inside to get some offers worked up. They bring the offer sheet out with the price of the vehicle, my down, and what the payments would be. I notice that the price is written for 25499. I ask the salesman where the 25499 came from. He said "that is the price" I said "Oh, I thought it was 23780." He said "No, that was the V6" I asked (sarcastically)"Oh, Iam sorry, did I drive the V6??" he answered "NO" then I proceded to tell him that the vehicle I drove which was a V8 said clearly on the window 23780. After I argued for about 10 minutes, I had to physically take them outside and show them the window sticker. They finally changed the offer price, however, the offer payments did not go down even the sale price did.

I wanted to trade in my Mazda 6 so they drove it to make sure nothing was wrong with it and after examining it, they told me it was an excellent car. They offered me about 4 thousand less than what the trade in value was. It was because they were looking at the value for a 4 cylinder when clearly the car is V6. After fixing that mess (and still ending up with 2 thousand less than trade value) we accepted the offered price and payment agreements.

They got all the paper work together and we soon went in to sign the documents, where my husband and I told the fianicial (cody Johson) about our experience with the dealership 3 years ago. He was a coplete ass. He said "what do you want me to do about it? I wasn't here, so you are saying it is my fault?" I replied "No, I was just telling you we are being loyal customers, supporting this dealership agian even though we feel mistreated." Cody rolled his eyes and started eplaining the contracts to us. He had very poor customer service, he treated us like we were rats and he was all mighty king, and his language and tone of voice were completely inappropriate. We signed our contract to pay $1,000 down and $550 monthly payments. We drove off the lot and 10 miles to our home where we heard a loud ding sound - I looked down and the vehicle was out of gas.

I called to ask someone to fill the gas tank for us and all I got for 3 days was circles - no one would take responsibility to step up and say "this lady just dropped 30 grand, least we could do is give her some gas." clearly I could see that was not going to happen. Saturday my day off I went in to find this Cody Johnson and get some gas in the vehicle. It was then he told me that he could not get the fiancing done. (keep in mind this is a whole week in a half later - no call) He procedes to tell me that the only way to finice it is with a company I will have to pay $800 a month. I said NO. He promised me it would be ok, he is going to kick in $250 every single month and then in 6 months we can refinance the vehicle. WHAT??? He is going to give me free money? No, I asked Cody if I would be paying the extra $1500 plus interest. He told me I would not have to pay ANY of the money back. I left with a really bad feeling.

After a week has passed I see my old car (mazda 6) for sale on the lot with a sticker on it that says no it is actually a they are crooks. I called Cody Johnson to ask him what the situation was and what would happen if I brought the Mountaineer back to them. He told me they would have to charge me. 55 cent for every mile driven and the would charge me a couple hundred dollars to detail it. After I had this phone conversation with Cody I went home and opened my mail. There was a letter stateing they could not finance me with in the contract agreement and if I so choose, I could bring back the vehicle and would be liably to pay the Federal Law milage rate requirements which is. 30 cents per mile. After finding out Cody lied yet again, I decied to tale the mountaineer back so would not suffer huge regret with this rip off. It was the Cody would not accept a verbal verification that my check cleared. He had to have a faxed copy (which my bank was not comfortable with due to fraud) then Cody tried to charge me. 40 cents a mile. And he said I will be nice and not charge the full milage rate. I asked where the the. 40 cents came from - he told me that is the federal law and he started to rumage through the contracts. Then I pulled out the paper I recieved in the mail (which was in his handwriting) and asked what happened to. 30 cents? He stuttered "uhh uhh or we could do that" Yeah whatever cody! I am going this evening to pick up my check - and they better had it over no questions. There is a mazda dealer right next door which I have just recently learned of their horrible customer service and come to find out - they are owned by the same people!

If you are looking for new or used car, DO NOT GO TO EITHER OF THESE DEALERSHIPS.
