Just Brakes
They were so awful I felt violated. Ripoff

I went to this Just Brakes because my brakes had started squeaking, thinking I could get that $99 brake deal. Boy, was I deluded.

After waiting in the "lobby" for three hours, I was led into the shop by one of the mechanics. He then proceeded to tell me that I not only needed to replace the pads and shoes, but that my calipers were destroyed on all four wheels.

Let me take a moment to clarify; I was a young woman with little to no car maintenance experience outside of my father. It hadn't even occurred to me this guy could be lying.

I was told that in order for them to do all four wheels, it would cost approximately $600. That's a pretty far cry from $99. I was also told that my car was legally unsafe for the road and he could refuse to let me take it if I didn't get the work done.

At this point, I started to cry. What makes me the sickest about this is in that moment this guy acted like he felt sorry for me and told me he was going to cut me a deal.

I ended up paying $350 for what he said would only be the front brakes, and that would make my car safe enough for me to drive. I was also told I would need to return with the car in the next month or my new brakes would get really worn down.

After another four hours, I gave these people all the money I had and left, completely freaked out at the prospect of having to go through all this again in less than a month.

Fortunately for me, my parents were visiting that weekend and my dad took a look at the car. He told me in no uncertain terms that there was nothing wrong with my rear brakes. At all.

I was miserable. Not only had these people ripped me off, they'd basically told me they were doing me a huge favor. It makes me sick just thinking about it. Are there no honest people left on the planet?

While I was waiting, everyone I spoke to in that place had been waiting for hours and needed some sort of major brake work. What exactly are the odds of all six of us needing several hundred dollars worth of work done at a place that advertises a $99 brake job?

Because of this, I will never go to another Just Brakes again and I avoid the Express Lubes that are attached to them as well. I will say I now have an automatic distrust of anyone that works on my car unless I was referred to them by someone.
