Today My husband went to Pineville Tire & Service Center to get an oil change. We thought that would be no big deal, they told him on the phone his cost would be $59.00. For a 2006 Passat we figured that would be reasonable since the Volkswagon Dealership charged the same thing. First, they came out once the car was being worked on and told him he had a nail in his tire and for them to repair that it would be $30.00. $30.00 dollars for a plug??? He went and looked and it was a wire, and he told them no thanks, that it was not leaking and it would be fine. Then he presented the bill and was charged $81.85, after he was quoted $59.00. My husband told him he was quoted $59.00 and the man stated the oil filter cost him $30.00. My husband had to pay him the money to get his car, but as soon as he got back to work, he called around to the Auto Zones, Napa Auto parts and also Advanced Auto and the filter was in the $15.00 range. My husband called backed to speak with Todd, the service man he dealt with and told him that he was overcharged and he could have got that filter elsewhere for a whole lot less, $15.00 to be exact! The guy Todd said "well he has to have profit margin" and my husband said: I am in sales, I know what profit margin is and you marked this up over 50%?? Todd stated that he marks everything up 50%! So in reality it was a 100% mark up so he makes 50%! We want to warn everyone that deals with this company that they are a RIP Off and will over charge you any chance they get!
