Defective parts in transmission with low miles victimized many consumers

I would like to report the 1996 and 1997 chevrolet/GMAC vehicles that have the 4L60E transmissions are faulty and just suddenly quit after about 80,000 miles. The transmission shop said it would cost me about $1300 dollars to be rebuilt. The GMAC dealership told me it would cost $1500 to just take it apart and tell me whats wrong with it. Then they said I could pay more to have it fixed or tow it away at my expense.

Since this has happened to me I have researched this style of transmission and it looks like Im not the only one with this problem. This style of transmission is supposed to have several updates to the internal parts. The main problem mine had was suddenly grinding noises when taking of or it would shift it self into nuetral at about 20mph. I imediatly drove it slowly to my house about a mile away and parked it to check the fluids and see if it was leaking, it wasnt low and wasnt leeking. Which it shouldnt because I had the transmission flushed about a year ago. The update it was supposed to have is caused from low line pressure, which burns the second and third clutches.

My question is why has the chevy and GMAC manufacturers not put a recal on these type and year model transmissions. Now the hard working consumer has to pay them more money to get it fixed. When they could of corrected the problem before it progressed with so many consumer complaints.
